Rain and cold for Giant Seorak Gran Fondo World Tour ® Warriors in Asia
Under a non-stop rain and 9 degrees temperature, the South Korean riders Song Jumi for the women and Choe Geeniyong for the men took the lead of the Gran Fondo World Tour ® with 1,100 points for each
Nearly 4,000 participants joined the 10th edition of Giant Seorak Gran Fondo, part of the 2018 Gran Fondo World Tour ® series in Asia.
The 208 km Gran Fondo distance contained 4 tough mountain passes, some of them with average gradients of 12% percent.
Race organizer Mr Kiseok Uhm stated "The cold, rain and tough course surely made it one of the hardest gran fondo's in Asia".
The increase in the popularity of cycling and the number of Gran Fondo events has exploded in the region, with top events regularly pulling in several thousand riders at a time.
Seorak National Park in Inje Region, situated at north east of South Korea, offerewd an amazing natural landscape with mineral springs, lush vegetation and real mountain slopes to really challenge the participants in the Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo distances.
After the first inclusion in this year's Gran Fondo World Tour ®, thereew is a commitment for next season, to expand the International participation in this “world class" event and continue to innovate with a Gran Fondo World Championship ® Ladies Edition, to increase the presence of woman in the event, Including a strong involvement of the prestigious Taiwaneese manufacturer Giant and woman's brand LIV too.

The Gran Fondo World Tour's ® next stop in two weeks in is the Almaty region, with 3rd edition of Gran Fondo Kazakhstan, Tour of Zhetysu, where the current leaders will have the another chance to battle for $36,000 USD in prizes on offer.
There are $10,000, $5,000 and $2,000 USD for top 3 men and women.
