If there was ever a time for a Hall of Fame for gravel rides, now would be good!
You've all heard of BWR California, Crusher in the Tusher, Garmin UNBOUND Gravel p/b Craft Sportswear, BMC Rock Cobbler, Garmin Gravel Worlds ® p/b Lauf, Barry Roubaix, Rebecca’s Private Idaho Sun Valley, SBT GRVL p/b Wahoo and Mid South. They have established themselves as Premier Gravel rides / races in North America, recognized around the world.

The established North American gravel rides are weekend long festivals attracting thousands of riders with inclusivity encouraged for all ages, juniors and the whole LGBTQ+ community. Equality reigns, all genders in the North America ride the same distance.
Gran Fondo Guide has reached its 12th year of operation, the Worlds Leading Amateur Cycling Platform has reached a global audience of nearly 4.3 million unique users.
In 2024 we want recognise these events that have achieved so much on their journey to the Hall of Fame.

Arizona is the first stop of the immensely popular Belgian Waffle Ride Tripel Crown of Gravel series taking place March 1st – 2nd in Cave Creek.
The Second Annual Belgian Waffle Ride Arizona is the kick-off to the largest gravel series in the world, the Quadrupel Crown of Gravel, is the newest manifestation of this formula. The inaugural edition sold out last year. This year there are only 1,000 spots available.
It’ll be a unique desert and mountain experience, known as the Hell of the North Desert, big sister to the legendary BWR California!
The BWR AZ takes place in Cave Creek, Arizona, on the fringes of the Valley of the Sun, embodies the three ingredients that make the BWR so special; a dream destination, varied terrain to accommodate an extremely dynamic racecourse, and a cycling community that is both vibrant and desirous of the Unroad experience only the BWR can offer.
Located in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, on the fringes of North Scottsdale, the BWR AZ will start and finish at Stagecoach Village in Cave Creek and take in a seamless connection of beautiful desert and varied challenging terrain with breath-taking views and near-perfect riding conditions.
The area enjoys over 300 days of sunshine and incredible scenery, with conditions that are perfect for exhilarating Unroad riding, including crushing climbs to beautiful views of the surrounding desert. The destination is a picture-perfect town in the desert foothills that brings together history, culture, and nature in a unique atmosphere. The downtown area has plenty to offer the entire family, and the city is surrounded by many other destinations that you don't want to miss out on.
The topography, transitioning from the verdant riparian environment along the Salt River to the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, will offer towering saguaro cactus standing sentry against a backdrop of made-to-order sunsets.
The springtime temperatures will nurture an array of stunning wildflowers among an ocean of vibrant green cacti and remain mild enough for riders to enjoy the full day of riding. The BWR AZ will bring along technical Unroads punctuated by pristine tarmac in the outskirts of Scottsdale.
The course in and around Cave Creek will boast a fantastic concoction of terrible terrain, including pitchy undulations in Carefree, Tonto Forest mountains & washes, Rio Verde, sinuous single-track in McDowell Mountain Regional Park & its Sonoran Preserve, and smooth roads connecting gravel sectors completely unique to this desert playground.
The dynamic nature of the course, which at roughly 122-miles is less than the usual BWR, will surely devastate even the most well-trained professional gravelleurs by its finale – a series of steep, paved climbs with pitches of 20%. How do you say, “Ouchie,” in Flemish. Oh yeah, it’s AUW! Kind of like, WTF!
And then there is the third and final ingredient – a vibrant cycling community. Not only has the area been designated one of only 35 gold-level bicycle-friendly communities in the US, with its safe accommodations, miles of designated bike lanes, and, of course, a plethora of trails to explore – both urban and desert – it has an extensive network of cycling teams, enthusiasts, and every type of bike shop to support them. This Sonoran Desert locale is the most diverse desert in the world, offering amazing views along the rocky mountain ranges that surround it.
There are Pro and age group awards, Category awards and Prize money for Tripel Crown.
No wonder this destination has become home to such an active and enthusiastic bike community!

Life’s too short to add just another gravel race to your calendar. With 3 days of racing over 4 days, the 2024 TransRockies Gravel Royale is truly in a league of its own. There are now 2 distance options each day and an overall ranking for each one!
There are a lot of reasons why the TransRockies Gravel Royale should be on your 2024 Bucket List next season!
Photo: It’s an unforgettable journey of adventure, camaraderie and of course, bragging rights!
The views are endless, and the hills are teeming with wildlife. It’s an unforgettable journey of adventure, camaraderie and of course, bragging rights! It’s a friendly competition that winds its way through terrain tailor-made for testing limits and leaving racers in awe of their own abilities.
Days are spent with friends, racing past rugged mountain peaks, and over high mountain passes. Evenings are a chance to make new friends, and trade stories with old ones. All while enjoying the unique character of our host community, Nipika Mountain Resort.
Whether you’re playing for keeps, or just for the fun of it, on an adventure like this, everyone’s a winner!
Gravel Royale will take riders on secluded gravel roads through the Canadian Rocky Mountains, traditional home to the Ktunaxa Nation Indigenous people. The extensive network of well-maintained fire roads in the region guarantee great riding and racing conditions.
Every stage is designed around adventure, with spectacular views and the chance to spot wildlife as you ride. Each day, racers will conquer a new mountain pass on their way to the finish line.
NEW FOR 2024, riders will be welcomed on arrival day with a prolouge, followed by a 3-day stage race starting the next day. Two distances will be offered each stage– a “Full Pint” with a daily distance of 90-120 km (about 75 mi) and a “Half Pint” with a daily distance of 40-85 km (about 50 mi). Riders can compete for stage podiums and general classification in either the Full or Half Pint, or just jump into whichever ride distance suits them for a fully supported ride each day.
In total, the full 3-day course (aka the Royal Flush) extends approx. 300km and climbs over 5,500m for the full pint course. The Half pint option serves up around 200km and 3,500m of climbing. The majority of the route is gravel road with some sections of double track and narrower deactivated roads.
The TransRockies team pride themselves on the rugged and remote nature of their stages, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be left to fend for yourself. They ensure an expertly marked course, 2 checkpoints per stage, as well as ambassadors and course crews, ready to lend racers a helping hand.
Each day will have you crossing the finish line with a dusty grin from ear to ear, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Photo: Every stage is designed around adventure, with spectacular views
The TransRockies Gravel Royale is more than just a race. Racers need a place to relax and recharge between stages, not worry about details. So the TransRockies team takes care of everything. They set up the tents, cook the meals and provide a place to shower for both you and your bike (at a bike wash station, of course). There is even massage and athletic therapy available. So that once you cross the finish line, all you have to do is concentrate on the race ahead.
An epic adventure like the TransRockies Gravel Royale is where stories are made. But what’s a great story without someone to share it with? The TransRockies team gets it.
That’s why, at camp, they set up a little place they like to call “Chillville”. It’s a spot dedicated to strengthening the bond between racers and building “The Stoke”. You can trust that it will always be filled with drinks, snacks and more than a few tall tales.
Cross the finish line, kick off your shoes and enjoy exceptional camp hospitality—TransRockies style!

The Canadian Rockies are calling
The TransRockies Gravel Royale is held in a very special part of the world. The Canadian Rockies lie along the Continental Divide Elk, bighorn sheep, wolves and bears inhabit the mountains and forests. A World heritage site, the region is home to four National Parks and features alpine peaks and lakes, icefields, and hot springs.
Most of the route also falls into the Kootenay Rockies region in the southeast corner of British Columbia and the TransRockies Gravel Royale explores some of the most remote areas of the region. It takes place on ancestral lands of the Ktunaxa First Nation, whose people have occupied the lands surrounding the Kootenay and Columbia Rivers for more than 10,000 years.
Stage 1 - Kootenay River Route
Starting at Nipika Mountain Resort, Stage 1 heads southbound on the Kootenay-Palliser Forest Service Road on remote logging roads, over steep mountain passes, by clear blue rivers and fun fast gravel. Full-Pinters will cross the Kootenay River and return north on the Ravenshead.
Stage 2 – Palliser River Route
Stage 2 takes adventurers far up the Palliser River drainage into the heart of the “Royal Group” of mountains, the namesake of Gravel Royale, just a stone’s throw from the continental divide with a lot of long gradual climbing. On the return trip riders Full Pinters will climb Little Elk Creek and descending Cochrane Creek before arriving back at Nipika.
Stage 3 – Cross River Route
Stage 3 starts on Nipika’s cross country ski trails rolling north through the Cross River Recreation Area. From there you’re back on good gravel roads to the high point of the day at Miller Pass. Full pint riders will enjoy and additional out and back section up the Cross River with several creek crossings which will require you to get off and cross on foot. Things get a little jungle like until you get to the Albert River Forest service road with rolling hills on good gravel roads. The stretch from the “Jungle” along the Albert River is particularly scenic.
Registration includes; the Tent Camp, Shower Truck, Fully Supported Aid Stations, Mechanical Support, Bike Wash, All Breakfast and Dinner Meals, Medical and of course Chillville every night!
All courses are marked, with checkpoints, course crew and medical and mechanical support.
For the more completive, race categories include; Women’s and Men’s Elite/Pro, Open Masters Mixed, Super Masters 100+ and Open Masters Men, Non-Binary and Adaptive.

The Oregon Coast Gravel Epic on May 4th 2024, is one amazing day that blends the best gravel in the Siuslaw National Forest and the Oregon Coast. It’s part of the Oregon Triple Crown series which celebrates its 12th year.
It traverses pure logging roads that are unpaved and some smooth pavement left over from decades of active logging that still exists to this day. This endurance event showcases the raw beauty of ancient forestsand some of its seriously stout hills.
At 60 miles long with 6,677 feet of climbing, the Abomination route more than lives up to its name and will take 3.5-7hrs for most.
The Son of Abomination is shorter at 37 miles; it is still physically demanding with 3,740 feet of climbing and 3-4 hrs of riding and just as amazing without quite as many hills.
The event is being produced in cooperation with the communities of Waldport and Yachats on the central Oregon Coast and with the support of The Peoples Coast and will highlight the natural beauty of rural Oregon coastal communities.
Organized by Mudslinger events, a family business built born in Oregon on the legacy of outdoor cycling adventure! Whether your podium bound or out for a good day in the saddle they have you covered from start to finish.
Mudslinger events love connecting people, organizing events for competitions, working on trails, and showcasing the unique places in Oregon and beyond for a good day outdoors. #5 Lu Lacka Wyco Hundo
2024 marks the 11th edition of this classic out of Pittston, PA on April 28th 2024. This is the ride you've heard about. This is the ride you've been waiting for.
This is 100 miles of mostly untraveled roads through Luzerne, Lackawanna and Wyoming counties in North-eastern Pennsylvania that will show you things you haven't seen, teach you things about yourself, and challenge your bike to keep you going when you can't see where the road and gravel and mud end, and civilization begins.
Be warned, this is one hell of a hilly ride. The full Hundo is 100 miles and anywhere from 7,000+ to 10,000+ feet of climbing. Don't select this distance without knowing that you are in for one hell of a challenge.
If you’re not sure you're ready eat the whole enchilada, Lu Lacka Wyco Hundo has shorter options of 40, 62, and 75 miles depending on your ability and lack of early season form.
The 3/4 Hundo 75 mile distance contains around 6,400 feet of climbing, ideally suited if you are not up to going the full distance, but want to see almost all of the course.
The 63 mile Metric Century contains around 5,480 feet, you get all the good parts, and 40ish less miles.
The lovely 40 mile contains 3,260 feet of climbing and is fun and challenging but won't take all day. Come and try this one.
Please bring your climbing legs and some calcium carbonate for the cramps!
There’s a water stop, full rest stop with water, sport drinks, trail goodies, trail mix, gummy bears, oranges, bananas and there also the world famous Redner's Taco Stop out on course.
There are a bunch of Strava segments out on the course that you can fight for, but other than that, this is just a timed ride. If you happen to finish first, there is a hatchet given to the first finisher and you will mostly likely get some recognition and a couple of extra prizes for your efforts.
Each rider gets two beer tickets to have some goodies from sponsors Susquehanna Brewing Company at the start. Each rider will also get a meal ticket for some of the best food around.
The person that finishes dead last will also probably get some prizes for their efforts since they run a pretty sweet raffle that is provided by our sponsors.
The swag will also be given out at this time. You have to be present to get the goodies.
The Lu Lacka Wyco Hundo believes in giving back and raises funds for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League.
Register NOW and SAVE!
Registration will open to the public at 12:01am EST on January 1, 2024. Last year, some magic happened and it sold out in about fourteen hours. If you want to make it in, make sure you are in line.
We recommend you register right as this ride is SELLS OUT for 1,000 participants, on January 1st - you have been warned.
Paris to Ancaster is "Canada’s Spring Cycling Classic" and has taken place since 1994, over the roughest farm lanes, trails and gravel roads the organizers can find.
The event tips it hat to some of toughest bicycle races in Northern Europe, the most famous of these, Paris-Roubaix, takes place each spring over brutal cobblestone roads that have been preserved in their historic condition for over 100 years. The ride, like its namesake (Paris-Roubaix) starts in Paris, Ontario.
In April 2023, Paris to Ancaster (P2A) hosted the first Canadian Gravel Championships in Ontario, which make their way to Calgary in June for its second edition.
The 2023 P2A edition attracted 3,000 participants from all over with three different course distances.
The route is a mix of public and private roads, some paved and some gravel. There are well-groomed rail trails and some muddy paths barely suitable for cycling. One of the great things that makes this a community event is private land owners that open up their farm roads or trails to give the race its unique character.
April in this part of Canada can bring any weather imaginable. Past years have been cold, dry, windy, rainy and even snowy! No matter the weather, parts of the course are known for being really muddy, and last year the mud was extreme. It rained for 5 days leading up to the race. And this wasn't just drizzle; this was pouring hard!
The race includes the world famous “mudslide of death” sector. If the weather is bad, this sector can become a brutal quagmire, where many a riders dreams of victory can literally slip away.
Photo: Full credit SISU Racing, Kev Helson and Crew made it round in treacherous conditions
P2A celebrates 30 years
This April 28th 2024, the race will once again welcome the largest field of riders assembled in Canada for the Paris to Ancaster (P2A).
For those who want to challenge themselves there are three distances; 45km Breve, 70km Classic and 100km Cento. There are cash prizes for elites and medals for category winners!
Hundreds of riders have already signed up for Canada’s Spring Cycling Classic.
Join them this April 28th and become part of the history of this unique race and Canadian gravel racing.
For the past nine years, the organizers of P2A have partnered with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation and invited race participants to ride and raise funds to support groundbreaking research at St. Joe’s Hospital.
This Classic follows gravel roads through the rolling Texas Hill Country in the middle of nowhere. The allure of the Castell Grind has always been its remote location, desolate roads and limited traffic.
It’s one of the biggest gravel events in Texas, with a legendary post-race ritual of tacos and beer, held at the post race festivities, made famous by the bright yellow Castell General Store.
You can expect amazing views, wildlife, cattle guards, minimal traffic, adventure and a gravel challenge worthy of bragging rights.
2024 sees Castell Grind celebrate its 11th year.
Austin residents Mike Drost, Debbie Richardson, and Janie Glos started the Castell Grind way back 2014 after exploring the roads less travelled around the small town, which is twenty miles west of Llano.
Mike explained to Gran Fondo Guide, "We are long time racers, riders, explorers and adventurers, always seeking to escape the real grind of the work week. We do this by simply going back to basics and getting away from it all... work, traffic, computers, TV, and stress. We put on endurance events to help you escape too."
The route funnels cyclists alongside the Llano River for miles, with views across House Mountain, Kings Mountain, and Bodie Peak.
Participants can choose from three distances— Full 100 km Grind, 75 km 2/3 Grind, or 50 km Half Grind—all of which include the notorious climb up Keyserville Road, where, as local riders put it, “the carnage begins”, with cyclists clambering uphill through the sand.
Very cleverly, the Full Grind follows a figure 8 course intersecting through the center of Castell at the half way point for the checkpoint, refuelling and support stop if they choose to. The Half Grind racers complete the same south loop course as the Full Grind racers and finish their race in Castell. The Full Grind racers complete the north loop returning to Castell and the finish line.
The next edition of Castell Grind takes place April 13th, 2024.
Like it or not, Texas has had a premier gravel ride for over a decade.

The 2024 ride is already sold out for over 575 riders with more on the waiting list, it’s that popular!

The 7th edition of Truckee Gravel on June 29th 2024 in California will race farther, race faster, and have more fun than ever before on gravel bikes!
Truckee Gravel is a competitive off-road bike race and festival featuring world class mixed terrain roads within Tahoe National Forest.
Truckee’s fame as an all-sport mountain town, and high desire for outdoor enthusiasts make it ground zero for what is likely to become an even bigger gravel gathering!
Experienced organizers Bike Monkey host Truckee Gravel in coordination with its partner Visit Truckee Tahoe. Bike Monkey are well-known for events like Levi’s GranFondo.
NEW for 2024 are three routes; Truckee Gravel 30 and 70 and Truckee Gravel XL.
The 30 mile easy route is no longer "easy", at 31 miles with almost 2,700 ft of climbing, it's actually a great route with a stout challenge on the tail end after you're good and warmed up. You will be scored. The easy route is now a race complete with prizes and a podium presentation!
Truckee Gravel 70 features 71 miles with about 5,300 ft of climbing. This is nearly as long as the 2023 edition's long course, and features some new, amazing dirt roads, including Cottonwood Canyon, Bear Valley and Smithneck.
Truckee Gravel XL long course has been extended all the way to Yuba Pass, and features 108 miles of racing in totality and an elevation gain of almost 8,900 ft. It is aptly named the Truckee Gravel XL. On the XL you will catch stunning mountain and valley views and get a glimpse of Sierra Buttes as you approach the highest point on the course.
It eliminates Sardine Peak and all of 2023's rugged and rocky descents that have caught some folks wishing they'd brought a mountain bike.
This event has awards for top 3 riders in various age and gender groups on short course and overall top 5 men and women* (U20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+) for the long and medium courses.
Post Ride Festival includes, Food, Beer, Vendors, Bike Parking and the Awards.
Mixed-terrain gravel bikes are the best choice for this race. Best suited for a gravel bike or a hardtail mountain bike 38c- 40mm+ tires.
In association with Visit Truckee Tahoe, participants can plan their Stay and Book Truckee Lodging with a wide variety of options. Book direct for the best rates and availability.
Enjoy Truckee’s proximity to Lake Tahoe, just 15 minutes from the northern shores, and its charming Historic Downtown, filled with shops, restaurants, breweries, and bars.
In 2023, Haley Smith and Matt Beers won overall and some 625 riders competed over the race's three distances.
For top riders the high altitude race is also a great tune up for Crusher in the Tushar.

#9 FoCo Fondo
Gran Fondo Guide fans, celebrate! Use 2024GFG for 10% off!
The FoCo Fondo has established itself as one of Northern Colorado’s premier gravel rides.
Celebrating it's 10th edition, the sell-out ride returns to Fort Collins, CO on July 21st, 2024.
With Fat Tire returning as the event's title sponsor in 2023, FoCo Fondo was another record year for participation. Athletes tackled one of four distances, with the 118-mile “Triple Dog Dare You” event being the most competitive with $9,000 purse – split evenly, three ways – for the Men, Women, and Non-binary categories.
Emily Newson claimed victory in the women’s category with about a 9-minute win over second place Paige Onweller and Cecily Decker just 11-seconds back. At the top of the Prairie Divide road (mile 71.7), she had about a 5-minute lead over Onweller, and then stretched that out over the return trip back South to Fort Collins.
Men top-3 Alexey Vermeulen broke away from the group about halfway into the course, on the slopes of the main climb up Prairie Divide Road. He finished just under 2-minutes ahead of a group of three, including 2-place finisher Lance Haidet and 3-place Richard Arnopol.
Non-binary winner Apollo Leonard summed up their day in two words with “I’m cracked.” The main climb of the day claimed many riders’ spirits with higher altitudes and an unrelenting sun. Leonard also had a slightly delayed start that saw them depart about five minutes behind the rest of the field and started a solo effort from the very beginning.
Racers and riders alike had access to a smattering of events leading up to race day, not dissimilar to a destination wedding weekend. Participants enjoyed Fort Collins at large, pre-event rides, and New Belgium Brewery tours.
On event day, ride your heart out, race the clock for a bolo tie, compete with others for cash and prizes, enjoy live music, bottomless Fat Tire, food and live music at the finish festival!
VIDEO: FoCo Fondo - Do It, You Won't
NEW for 2024, event day experience will see five routes consisting of approximately: 12-, 32- 60-, 100-, & 118-miles. While keeping with some traditions, FoCo Fondo seeks to make their race routes obtainable by most, raceable if sought after, but an adventure you can be proud of finishing.
For the 118 mile premiere event, there will be bolo ties earned upon a specific arrival time that will be as competitive as ever. Over $9,000 in cash prizes for overall men’s, women’s, and non-binary podiums, age group prizes.
Fort Collins’ Fondo has always used the event as a vessel to show that bikes are for all; in 2023 that mantra was pushed to a new level with FoCo Fondo bringing on paid community members to lead each program they had created.
FoCo Fondo also incentivized vehicle trips via the Hitch-a-Ride program, supported by Chamois Butt’r and Visit Fort Collins. In 2023, those who participated in the program were eligible to win gas cards from Chamois Butt'r and additional prizes from Gozney and Wahoo. 2024 will see similar opportunities. FoCo Fondo will have secure bag drops for riders commuting to the start.
“Once you’re in Fort Collins, you don’t really need a car! It’s cheaper, it’s more fun, you’re here to ride your bike not look for parking.” says promoters Whitney & Zack Allison
As in years past a grant from event proceeds is set aside by FoCo Fondo to donate to Safe Routes to School, a City of Fort Collins program to teach kids how to ride around town, ride for joy, and ride to school.

Enjoy the "Gravel Gateway" to the Florida Everglades and best post "Gravel Party" of the year on Sunday February 18th, 2024
Miami is known for many things, like the glitz and glamour of south beach, or the white sand beaches, but there is so much more to be explored. Only a short drive inland is the “Gravel Gateway” to the Florida Everglades, one of the great biological Wonders of the World. Here you can see the original and ancient Florida and for the select few adventurers that desire to push their limits and explore uncharted territory, this is their playground.

Only a short drive inland is the “Gravel Gateway” to the Florida Everglades, one of the great biological Wonders of the World. Here you can see the original and ancient Florida and for the select few adventurers that desire to push their limits and explore uncharted territory, this is their playground.
City Bikes Gravel Miami is Florida’s premier gravel event that plans to showcase the hidden gravel which winds through the Florida Everglades. It is an event that is truly for everyone with three distances (36, 56 & 107 miles)to suit every level of rider. The course winds throughout the levee roads like ‘Frog Pond’ and ‘Rocky Glades’ that surrounds Florida most precious resource, the Florida Everglades.
City Bike Gravel Miami will be held on Presidents Day Weekend in the crisp air month of February on Sunday February 18, 2024. The event starts and finishes at the iconic Miami Brewing Company, an oasis in the farmlands of Homestead at the edge of the Everglades.
The Miami Brewing Company is a 10,000 square-foot tap room that sits on 10 acres of land. There is free overnight RV parking and plenty of room for social distancing. The beer is cold and refreshing, the staff is welcoming and the atmosphere is eclectic and interesting.
From the brewery, the riders will embark on their journey along the scenic gravel roads of old Florida and may experience wildlife like gators, pythons, deer and more.
For 2024 riders can scout the course (pre-ride) with the City Bikes Gravel Team (Saturday, February 17, 2024) and all riders will take home our new souvenir custom Gravel Miami hats and socks.
After the ride, there will be beers drank, finisher medals, awards given, and friends made. Participants will have their dirty bikes cleaned and washed in our secured ‘Bike Valet’.
Escape winter, keep fit and experience the “Gateway to Everglades Gravel” next February 18th 2024 and enjoy the best post event 'Gravel Party' at the Miami Brewing Company!
