Growing the Love of Cycling

The 2016 Malibu Gran Fondo, presented by SERIOUS CYCLING, is proud and honored to announce their partnership with two non-profit organizations: The Pablove Foundation and the Network for Advancing Athletes. The Malibu Gran Fondo is committed to raising awareness and funds for these organizations, creating a forum for advocacy, and furthering the mission of their presenting sponsor: “to grow the love of cycling.”

Pedal with a Purpose:  The Pablove Foundation

By supporting the Malibu Gran Fondo, participants ‘pedal with a purpose’ and contribute to furthering the programs and mission of The Pablove Foundation:  to INVEST in underfunded, cutting-edge pediatric cancer research; INSPIRE cancer families through education; and IMPROVE the lives of children living with cancer through the arts.  Through the Pablove Cycling Club and their signature event Pablove Across America, Pablove helps kids with cancer live a love-filled life today, and a cancer-free life tomorrow.

Malibu Gran Fondo Women’s Symposium

Hosted by the Network for Advancing Athletes (NAA)

In conjunction with the Malibu Gran Fondo, representatives from Network For Advancing Athletes (NAA) will host a Women's Symposium for athletes of all ages and levels of skill on Friday March 4, from 5 to 7pm, at the Four Seasons. Open to the general public and complimentary, the evening offers a great opportunity to meet NAA mentors in person and get advice directly from women who have successfully navigated the path from beginner cyclist to professional and have seen it all, through a woman's eyes!  NAA provides direct access to the support, wisdom and mentorship of elite, Olympic and professional female athletes. They believe the healthy pursuit of personal excellence through sport leads to positive growth and develops valuable life skills. Mentors are elite women athletes who encourage positive, fulfilling participation in sport at all levels by offering education and support to empower girls and women of all ages.

Malibu Gran Fondo Event Highlights – March 5th- 6th

Peak fitness is NOT required to fully experience all that the event weekend has to offer. The event attracts cyclists from colder climates looking to log some early season miles, with typical sunny and warm weather in Malibu this time of year, especially in the beginning of March. Join cyclists from Alaska, the East Coast, Canada, and even Germany, for this unique two-day format and a first-class experience on and off the bike.  In order to maintain authenticity and intimacy, registration is limited.

Ranging from the scenic Pacific Coast Highway to the challenging Santa Monica Mountains, Malibu’s terrain is hard to beat.  Although The Omnium Event format is a cumulative time for both days, riders can opt for the “Social Experience” and select a shorter route with a more relaxed pace. The two-day format includes a chip-timed 94-mile Gran Fondo on Saturday that takes riders along the scenic Pacific Coast Highway before the nine-mile climb up Latigo, ascending from the beach to the heights of the Santa Monica Mountains. The day’s biggest challenge comes in the second half of the route, allowing early season miles with a competitive flavor mixed in.  Day two is a point-to-point, 12 mile individual Time Trial along the Pacific Coast Highway.

Day one hosted by the Four Seasons Westlake.  Day two hosted by Vintage Grocers Malibu. Offering Mavic pro-level on-course support, Pedalers Fork gourmet rest stops, 10 Speed Coffee truck on course, Four Seasons & Vintage Grocers catered receptions, personalized concierge services, post ride cyclists massage, WD 40 bike wash/valet, AND forums for advocacy, Malibu Gran Fondo is the Complete Cycling Experience. Limited edition commemorative tile, bottle of California wine & Ride! Book also included in the registration fee of $250.  Optional upgrades include a custom Assos limited edition jersey and five star Four Seasons accommodations at an exclusive event rate.

Reserve your spot today and treat yourself to a premier destination cycling event. For more detailed information and registration visit: ridemalibugranfondo.com
