Old Man Winter did not disappoint at Oskar Blues Brewery Rally

This years Oskar Blues Brewery Old Man Winter Rally was colder than previous and the week before saw heavy snow fall around Lyons, Colorado in the U.S.

Old Man Winter did not disappoint, with a mixture of pavement, gravel, ice, snow and mud on Super Bowl Sunday!

Hundreds tackled 50km or 100 km through routes around the world-famous cycling mecca of Boulder County.

The Rowena trail was 98% unrideable and involved a 20 to 30 minute "snow hike".

Everyone enjoyed route signage, luxury aid stations with heat and eats, a hot meal and a cold beer at the finish line, and a rousing post-ride party with live music, contests, and a massive raffle.

For those who rode, it definitely may have been the most fun they have had all winter - although it sounds like Old Man Winter had the last laugh!

Matt Opperman,  Head mechanic for the Trek Factory Racing Mountain Bike Team commented "What a day of racing that saw a combined pro/amateur field tackle 100k of snow, ice, dirt, mud, wind, sun and 5000ft of climbing with a 2 mile uphill run/hike through sometimes knee deep snow in under 4 hours. Finished a satisfying 15th place overall. Thank you to my friends for the cheers along the way. Another big shout out to Oskar Blues for another epic event"
