The Cheshire Cat is Back (and so is your entry)

Good news for those who bought an entry for the Cheshire Cat Sportive from defunct Kilo To Go, you can now ride next years 2017 Cheshire Cat courtesey of Velo29-Altura!

Following the sad demise of Kilo 2 Go Sportives in the UK, Velo29-Altura, organisers of the Tour of the Pennines, have taken over ownership of the Cheshire Cat and Tour of the Peak for 2017.

Riders who wish to do so will be able to transfer their entry from the cancelled 2016 Cheshire Cat sportive to the 2017 edition.

Although Velo29-Altura say they have acquired the full package of sportives run by Kilo 2 Go, only the Cheshire Cat and Tour of the Peak are set to continue at the moment.

Richard Williamson, the Velo29 Event Director was reported as saying "Velo29 have recently acquired Kilo 2 GO with a view to continuing some of the well-established events and we want to be able to offer some compensation to riders who already entered the events which we are continuing to promote.

“These are great well supported events and we want to get them back to the 3,000 rider sell out of a few years ago. We’ll be getting in touch with entrants shortly on their free place in next year’s event.”

To date we can confirm that the Cheshire Cat will be taking place in 2017.

We are currently working on dates but plan the for the Cheshire Cat to take place in late March. The basic format of the routes will be the same as the Kilo 2 GO events but we’ll look to incorporate our own Velo29 style of ride.

Also we plan to keep the price in line with other Velo29 Sportives which is typically £25

We’d be delighted to hear from anyone about this event, especially riders who entered the 2016 Cheshire Cat as we are looking to honour these entries in the 2017 event!"

Kilo 2 Go were liquidated in April, as many sportive riders were left out of pocket for events with which they had registered.
