Eneco Tour 2016 Stage 4: Sagan Beats Greipel In Close Finish

At 199.1 kilometres, stage 4 in the Eneco Tour to Sint-Pieters-Leeuw closed with a circuit twice, while the short and steep climb up the Bruine Put didn't thwart the sprinter's ambitions.

The break away of Brian van Goethem, Mark McNally, Bert Van Lerberghe and Sjoerd Van Ginneken had a lead of 5 minutes, but the Peloton reeled them in with 65 kms remaining. There were several attacks and a crash in the final kilometers. Sagan came from around 5th wheel around everyone in a long sprint to punch for the line winning by about an inch in front of Greipel.

Sagan (Tinkoff) moved into the overall lead, 7 seconds ahead of Rohan Dennis (BMC Racing).

Stage 5 in the Eneco Tour is a 20.9 kilometres team time trial. Start and finish are in Sittard in the south of the Netherlands.

Perfect rehearsal for the World Championships in Doha!
