VIDEO: Incredible moment Lars Boom stops during Vuelta a Espana race to take a POO in fan’s caravan

Pro cyclist avoided a nasty accident as he hopped into a fan’s caravan for a poo during the middle of the La Vuelta Stage 2

Dutchman Lars Boom jumped off his bike on the second stage of the Vuelta a Espana – to avoid leaving the worst kind of skidmarks on the road.

The scenes were recorded by an onlooker, and the Dutch cyclist can be seen walking out of a caravan as he puts his jersey back on.

The topless cyclist manages to squeeze back into the skinsuit – with help from a fan – and jumps on to his waiting bike after relieving himself.

Lars Boom tweeted an explanation of the incident after stopping on the side of the road during stage two of La Vuelta a Espana

Boom lost time with his stop and crossed the finish line in last place, 35min 21sec behind the stage winner Alejandro Valverde.

He tweeted: "Thanks for all the nice messages. Big stomach problem. Thanks to the people from the mobil home where I could put my 's**t'. The downhill after my pitstop I had a nasty crash. After this moment my body was totally f***ed. Happy to make the time cut."

Netizen 'Diego F' commented: "They are clapping his poo!" and 'SteveEdwards' added: "When you have to go you have to go.", while 'harleycharley' wrote: "Just dropping off a deposit and back on the road."

Tom Dumoulin had an even more dramatic pit stop at last year’s Giro d’Italia. The Team Sunweb rider hopped off his steed and raced down the side of the road half naked on to a grassy bank for an emergency toilet break. Incredibly, he went on to win the race overall.

Boom won the cyclo-cross world championships in 2008 and was the Dutch national cyclo-cross champion in his discipline from 2001 to 2012. He won a stage at the 2014 Tour de France.
