Fight the four elements and challenge yourself at this epic bike race across the breath-taking Austrian Alps

Taking place on Sunday 2nd  August, the ARLBERG Giro is an Austrian Alpine cycling classic!

Starting in the beautiful village of St. Anton am Arlberg, known as the 'Cradle of Alpine Skiing' and gateway to the Tyrolean Alps, participants will take on a 150 km course with over 2,500 vertical meters (or VM) of climbing.

Cycling fans from far and wide come to soak up the unspoilt nature of St. Anton am Arlberg and its magnificent mountain scenery.

The challenging course includes the ascent of the 1,084m Arlbergpass and the 2,032m Bielerhöhe before heading back towards St. Anton am Arlberg with a final 26km uphill climb at an average gradient of 8%.

The course is for adventurists who love the climb, epic scenery and a real challenge.

There will be a staggered start in groups and timing doesn’t begin until the start line has been crossed.

There are three well placed aid stations on route to keep all participants hydrated and fully fuelled. There will be Water, Hammer Nutrition isotonic drinks, Coca-Cola, Rauch fruit juice, Bananas, Apples, Oranges, Lemons and rolls with sausages and cheese.

The finish line aid station will also have; Red Bull energy drinks, Red Bull cola, melons, grapes and salty snacks & nut pastries for participants to help recover after crossing the finish line!

The challenging course includes the ascent of the 1,084m Arlbergpass and the 2,032m Bielerhöhe

King and Queen of the Mountains Competition

13 km and a climb of 1,094 metres in altitude will need to be conquered in order to receive the well-earned title of “Mountain Specialist” after crossing the finishing line.

A second timing facility will be installed at Partennen to allow each participant to determine their time separately at Bielerhöhe.

Category A: 1986 - 2002

Category B: 1976 - 1985

Category C: 1961 - 1975

Category D: 1920 - 1960

Team Award

6 team members, or the times achieved by the fastest 6 riders in a team will be used.

The day before the ARLBERG Giro, on Saturday 1st August, cycling fans can experience the competitive atmosphere when top pros race 30 laps through the narrow streets of St. Anton during the International Cycle Criterion.

Spectators can feel the tension in the air on the eve of the ARLBERG Giro race. This professional criterion is one of the fastest in Austria and attracts top names from around the world to St. Anton am Arlberg every year.
