Utah-Cache Gran Fondo to offer both UCI Worlds and GFNS National Qualifier
One of North America's top Gran Fondo's and Utah’s Premier Gran Fondo will once again be the focus of world-class cycling for all level of riders!
The open roads and green flat farm fields of Cache Valley, one of northern Utah's best-kept cycling secrets, will once again become a major draw for thousands of cyclists this July 10-11, 2020.
The focus has always been to create a fun, rewarding and challenging event for riders of all abilities. Routes of 35, 50, 76 and 104 miles cater to cyclists with a wide range of goals, with all enjoying clean air, beautiful vistas and relatively low-traffic roads. Many riders pick the event for their first century, the challenge of a 50-miler, or as a training ride for bigger events like the Tour of Utah’s Ultimate Challenge and LOTOJA.
The 76-mile course has been chosen as the official race distance for both the UCI Gran Fondo World Series and the Gran Fondo National Series qualifiers. The race distance will be professionally timed, but all courses will have prizes, allowing individuals and teams to win over $8,000 dollars worth of awards, gifts and prizes. So beware, even those not racing can benefit from prizes awarded randomly across the event. Although much of the route is relatively flat, the routes also offer challenge climbs, but in short distances, just to keep it interesting.
“The Utah-Cache Gran Fondo offers well-stocked support stations, chances to win great prizes, enjoy a healthy breakfast and lunch, receive a big-bling finisher medal, and have a fun day riding with around 2,000 other inspiring cyclists.” Explains race director, Troy Oldham. “We have many race teams, corporate teams, families & neighborhood groups, couples and individuals, and they all love coming to Cache Valley for this big, fun, ride!”
One of North America's TopGran Fondo's
The 2019 Cache Gran Fondo was rated #6 best Gran Fondo in North America by Gran Fondo Guide due to it's world class organisation, being a fun, rewarding and challenging event for riders of all abilities.
For the more competitive cyclist, the 9th Annual Cache Gran Fondo is a qualifier for the 2020 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, This second year UCI event allows amateur cyclists the opportunity to compete to win one of the coveted UCI Rainbow Stripes jerseys, attracting cyclists from all over North America and Internationally. Racers can qualify for the World Championships by competing in our Individual Time Trial or 76-mile race. The fun continues after completing the ride, when all finishers enjoy the festival atmosphere at the Utah-Cache Gran Fondo Gran Feed and Outdoor Expo in beautiful North Logan Utah. In 2019, the exact same finish line was chosen for the Stage One of the Larry H, Miller Tour of Utah, and the spot became an instant fan-favorite for the Utah-Cache Gran Fondo finish. Gran fondo riders are treated to a meal from different vendors, participate in the awards ceremony, listen to music, drink all the Pepsi products they can, and enjoy a great summer afternoon cheering on other riders as they finish their rides. There are activities for people of all ages, making it an ideal weekend of fun for families.
In 2020 Utah will once again host the Tour of Utah, “America’s Toughest Stage Race”, the professional race features some of the world’s top riders, and the Cache Gran Fondo is one of the rides in the Tour of Utah’s Summer of Cycling. This is your opportunity to ride some of the same roads as the pro cyclists during the Tour.
Another goal of the Gran Fondo has always been to raise money for local charities in the Cache Valley area. Over the past years, proceeds and donations have been raised to support Cancer Services at Logan Regional Hospital, Hope for Cache Valley, The Family Place, Myeloma Crowd Foundation, Bike Utah, and the Cache Valley Mountain Bike Team. We match your donation, and 100% of what you give goes to these great local charities, most are also running our support stations so they can thank you for supporting their causes.
