Second Red Bluff Gran Fondo another Huge Success!

The second annual Red Bluff Gran Fondo had a record turnout of cyclists riding three different routes. This year’s event also included a children’s fun ride that attracted over kids.

Close to 250 participants covered most of Lawrence County on their rides. A new Petit Fondo was added this year that covered 38 miles from Monticello to Silver Creek, New Hebron, and back to the starting line in Monticello. The longer rides, for more experienced cyclists, covered 65 and 103 miles in the southern part of Lawrence County with dips into Marion and Jefferson Davis Counties.

The Monticello Block Party included bands; vendors with homemade, hand-crafted, and home-grown items; a cookie bake-off; and food vendors.

Local Lawrence County residents who rode in the event included Lynn Pippen, third place male winner of the Petit Fondo; Amanda Henderson, second place female winner of the Petit Fondo; Sherri Cox, third place female winner of the Petit Fondo; Eskria Rhodes; Levi Weeks; Alston Bozeman; and Sarah Tynes.

o Bourne stated "We hope everyone enjoyed a much needed day of rest this Sunday! We just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all of our riders for coming out to ride in our 2nd annual Red Bluff Event yesterday. We hope everyone had a great time on the courses and at the rest stops. Also, HUGE thanks to all our volunteers and rest stop workers for making the course safe and fun for everyone."

"Thank you again to all our participants and we hope to see you back in Monticello for next year’s RED BLUFF Gran Fondo!"
