Monopoly release special Limited Edition Pro Cycling Board for Xmas
The ultimate Christmas gift for cyclist's has just landed! Monopoly Cycling has been released!
The iconic property management board game has made its way to the Lycra-clad world of professional cycling with a new limited edition board centred around some cycling's classics.
You'll see the likes of the Koppenberg, Arenberg and Poggio take their place on this special board as each property centres around the five Monuments and major one-day Classics.
The Monopoly Course is the ideal way to relive the most famous passages of Spring Classics. Think of legendary duels on La Redoute, start-ups on the Muur van Geraardsbergen or punctures on the Carrefour de l'Arbre. Visit the place de Kwaremont, take a ride on the Roubaix Velodrome, climb on the Poggio and get a victory bonus! This Monopoly edition will show you all the beauty of spring racing.
The Muur van Geraardsbergen and Roubaix Velodrome take the premium navy blue spots (rather than Park Lane) while the iconic Chance and Community Chest cards have been given a twist such as earning a first professional victory or renovating the chain showers in the Roubaix Velodrome.
To launch the new version of the iconic board game, Monopoly sent creepy character Rich Uncle Pennybags himself around to young Remco Evenpoel's house to give him a board to enjoy in his long recovery from injury.
Hopefully, the bulbous-headed figure does not give little Remco any nightmares because it certainly would us.
He seems fine, however, commenting: 'I am very happy with this first edition of the Monopoly Cycling board game: now I can play with my family and friends. I think I'll buy La Redoute, which is along, with the Stockeu one of my favourite hills in Lie`ge-Bastogne-Lie`ge.
'I often ride there in training to test my legs, but now I can buy it too! Next to that, I also have a fan club on the Muur Van Geraardsbergen, so I would have to conquer this one too.'
“Being produced in March 2021, on the run-up to the Spring Classies, there will be a second limited edition run, due to high demand,” said Monopoly Belgium. For now, those looking for a Christmas gift can give the voucher and ask their cycling friend to wait patiently.
Demand is expected to be high for this so instead of simply being retailed, Monopoly Koers has a waiting list for those after a board.
The €50 game, distributed in Belgium, was originally only made as a limited run. The monopoly store sold out so quickly that it is now offering gift vouchers for a second run of the game, but we personally think Monopoly Cycling is priceless.
This unique edition is the dream game for any fan or supporter of cycling! Have fun and we'll see you at the start of the season!
