Registration open for the UCI Neusiedlersee Radmarathon
Austria’s top Cycling Marathon gives you the opportunity to ride around the region’s protected UNESCO world heritage site and qualify for the 2022 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships
The 30th edition of the internationally renowned Neusiedler See Radmarathon powered by Burgenland Tourismus starts in the community of Mörbisch on the shores of Lake Neusiedl, the race takes cyclists on counter-clockwise course around the lake over a distance of 125 kilometres with a small detour through Hungary.
Straddling the border of eastern Austria and northern Hungary, Neusiedl Lake and its cultural landscape was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 2001, a unique protected area of outstanding biodiversity.
A relatively flat and traditionally windy course, sprinters and race tacticians will have an advantage, the 125km course includes 600m of climbing. The ride attracts cyclists of all abilities.

More leisurely cyclists will be able to enjoy the unique flora and fauna of the breath-taking Seewinkel National Park on the 65km course (NRM mini) with 300m of climbing including a ferry ride over the lake back to the finish line. NRM mini was established for those who just likes to enjoy cycling but also gets a feeling of being part of a race and is not time tracked.
Hand cyclists have the opportunity to ride the 125 km course for FREE.
Austria’s top cycling marathon takes places on Sunday April 24th 2022, the first round of the Austria Top Tour series, and the champion’s league of marathon sport which attracts cyclists globally. Competition is fierce but the chance of cycling with a bigger peloton very good..
The Neusiedler See Cycling Marathon is one of the most popular cycling races in Austria attracting in excess of more than 1,300 cyclists annually.

There is the opportunity to participate in the team classification. Min. 4, max. 8 participants form a team. For ranking the best 4 times will be taken. There are men, women and mixed teams. A mixed team consists of at least one participant of the other gender.
Podium awards for the Cycling Marathon include the fastest 3 women and 3 fastest men across 7 age categories. 3 fastest teams of men, women and mixed and 3 fastest hand cyclists.
HILL Racing Team chairman Johannes Hessenberger and his team organized the third Lake Neusiedl cycling marathon in 2021, "We received a lot of positive feedback, which is very motivating and I'm really looking forward to next year when the marathon moves up to the "Champions League" of marathon sport," says Hessenberger. “Because next year we will not only celebrate the 30th edition of the Neusiedler See Cycling Marathon, we will also be part of the largest international marathon network, the Gran Fondo UCI World Series.”
"We are part of around 26 events on five continents, in 21 countries and with a total of around 75,000 participants. With us, amateur athletes can qualify for the official 2022 UCI Gran Fondo and Time Trial World Championships being held in Trento, Italy in September (date TBC)."
The Neusiedler See Radmarathon powered by Burgenland tourismus is the only competition in the entire German-speaking area where this will be possible on April 23rd and 24th next year.
In addition to the cycling marathon, there is on the day before the 26km Time Trial Single, Double and UCI Time Trial World Championships Qualifier on Saturday April 23rd - where you can take part in two different categories with normal racing bikes (RR) and time trial machines (TT).

The age group evaluation for the qualification for the UCI Gran Fondo World Series is as follows for male and female (19-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-65, 70-74, 75–79) your age on December 31, 2022.
The first three in each age category and the top 20% of each age category will be awarded with guaranteed entry to the UCI Gran Fondo World Championship in September. Note: If there are three in your age group who start the race– everybody qualifies! If there are four who start the race, the top three qualify. If there are 100 in your age group who start the race, 20 will qualify. Click here for the latest UCI Gran Fondo qualification rules.
Every cyclist who finishes in the top 20% of their age group will receive a medal. The best 3 finishers per age group will receive their medal on the podium and the winner will receive a winners jersey.
