Rumours Primoz Roglic could move to Ineos Grenadiers

Primoz Roglic is said to have shown interest in moving to Ineos Grenadiers as the transfer season opens up

Even if the Slovenian has a long-term contract with Jumbo-Visma at the Dutch team, with team mate Jonas Vingegaard securing Tour victory, this could force Roglic to move to another team if he wants another chance at the yellow jersey!

It has been reported that Team Ineos Grenadiers have expressed an interest in the Slovenian, although it is vague what that interest could lead to – if anything.

Roglic was forced to abandon the Tour de France after sustaining a dislocated shoulder and two broken vertebrae during his crash on stage five.

He was scheduled to race the Vuelta a Espana later this year in an attempt to take a fourth consecutive win, however his back injuries still bring uncertainty over his participation in the race.

Beaten the day before the finish of the 2020 Tour de France, Roglic was beaten by Tadej Pogacar.

Bad luck has plagued him in 2021 and 2022 due to falls and injuries.

The former ski jumping specialist has seen close uphand the rise of team mate Jonas Vingegaard.

While the Ineos Grenadiers team had success at the 2002 Tour de France with Tom Pidcock’s victory at Alpe d’Huez, first place in the team classification and the presence of Geraint Thomas on the podium in the general classification, the British team remains three Grandes Boucles without a Yellow Jersey!

Roglic is the only rider capable of putting Tadej Pogacar in difficulty, last year he cracked the Slovenian twice, helped by his team mates.

A few days before the official opening of the transfer market by the UCI, this rumour comes at the right time.
