Enjoy a weekend of world-class, mixed-surface cycling in the heart of the Paso Robles wine region in beautiful San Luis Obispo County (SLO). The Bovine Classic has three routes designed to challenge riders of most skill and fitness levels. This is a version of old California filled with surprises. The Bovine Classic features challenging gravel riding with the best of Paso Robles and SLO style. Bring your family, herd your friends, and stay for the weekend. This is an up-and-coming cycling destination with EPIC dirt riding in one of the nation’s favorite vacation getaways.
Line up in the Bovine corral for a 40-, 70-, or 101-mile cattle drive through the region’s less-travelled spots. This ride’s about enjoying amazing terrain in a stunning setting. You’ll have the opportunity to put your gravel rig through its paces on the three timed climbs (one on the Gentle Bovine course). There are prizes for top-three segment winners in each category. The Bovine Classic promises on-course support with ride marshals, roving mechanical aid, and well-stocked feed stops to keep you moo-vin.
After all that grinding on some of the most surprising gravel in the West, unwind in Atascadero’s historic town square for a great party with food, drinks, music, drinks and laughs–and lots of new riding buddies. Join in a huge raffle–with multiple Grand Prizes from local and national partners–to benefit Operation Surf.
The weekend’s off-the-bike time presents opportunities to enjoy amazing wines, microbrews & distilled craft spirits; exceptional farm-to-table cuisine; zip-lining & horseback riding through gorgeous vineyards; and a welcoming, laid-back, small-town spirit.

The Paso Robles wine region is a 3.5-hour drive from Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay area and 2 hours from Santa Barbara. If you’re coming from out of state, fly into SLO, Santa Barbara, Burbank, San Jose, LAX, or SFO.
Once you’re here, Atascadero is 15 minutes from downtown Paso Robles, 20 minutes from San Luis Obispo Hotels & 25 minutes from camping options.
