2-day Siskiyou Scenic Cycle Tour & Gravel Ride is back this May 2024

Come and experience the Siskiyou County in all its glory this May 18th and 19th, 2024 with road and gravel rides

The Rotary Club of Yreka’s popular Siskiyou Scenic Bicycle Tour is back again next May 18th - 19th 2024, starting in beautiful Yreka, California. 2024 marks the 36th edition of this popular ride.

Yreka Rotary are partnering with the Jefferson Mountain Bike Association. This is a combined 2 day event, Saturday the 18th will be all pavement rides of 104, 67, 40 and 21 mile and Sunday May 19th will be 2 gravel rides of 62 and 39 miles.

They will have 6 different ride lengths this year, including a Century All rides start and finish at Upper Greenhorn park in Yreka, California. All have multiple rest stops and sag wagon support. All have views of stunning Mt. Shasta, >14,000 ft, rising from the Valley floor. The start of the rides will have a mass start with a police escort through the town of Yreka.

Yreka is located twenty-two miles south of the Oregon border and is well known for Mt. Shasta Ski and Recreation Area, Marble Mountain Wilderness, trails and camping, river rafting, historical districts, antiques and bicycle touring. Yreka’s is 2,595 feet above sea level and May is a very pleasant time.

Saturday Road Rides

All rides include police escort at the start, end of ride meal and entertainment at the park with beer for purchase. There are distances for all abilities of cyclists.

The 21 mile ride is a short tour of Shasta Valley, highlighting the town of Montague. Relatively flat beginner's ride with a police escort through town. One rest stop at Montague Railroad Park.

Saturday Road Rides

The 40 mile is a great ride for anyone who wants a beautiful ride without the long distance, and only has 1,288 ft. of elevation gain. Winds through beautiful Shasta Valley with rest stops Montague Railroad Depot Museum to the Montague Railroad Park

The 67 mile route basically follows the route of the old 1/2 metric Siskiyou Century, with 1,967 ft. of elevation gain. It starts at Upper Greenhorn Park at 8am with a police escort through town, goes south to Edgewood, then east to Lake Shastina and then north through Shasta Valley and back to Yreka.

The 104 mile route features 6,003 Ft of elevation gain. Starts at Greenhorn park- goes over Forest Mtn. into Scott Valley, then south to Callahan, over Gazelle Mtn. to Shasta Valley and back to Yreka. This is the traditional Siskiyou Century route from years past. 5 rest stops. Very challenging but gorgeous scenery.

You’ll receive a Ride Packet with a promotional gift, map, snacks.

They’ll be Prizes for each ride length category, 1st registration, oldest, youngest, farthest away, largest group.

An end of meal party with a hot meal, drinks (beer for sale). for all registered riders at the event HQ in Upper Greenhorn Park. Additional meal tickets may be purchased

A delicious meal will be served from be served from 11am to 4pm to all registered riders on the 18th and 12-4 on the 19th. Meal tickets may be purchased by family and friends for $15.00 each

There are several RV parks in Yreka with full hook-ups for RV's and there is plenty of lodging in Yreka available.

The Greenhorn Gravel Grinder- Mother Lode is a 62 mile gravel ride on Sunday May 19th, starting at 9am, to Cram Gulch, over Scarface to Ft. Jones, then over Greenhorn Summit and back to the park.  Very challenging. 6,474 ft. Elevation gain. Great scenery! Rest stops, sag wagons, end of ride meal and beer for purchase. A favorite of JMBA. Riders from 2023 said it's the best kept secret in gravel rides on the West Coast. Very challenging. 6,474 ft. Elevation gain. Great scenery! Greenhorn Gravel Grinder- Fool's Gold, This is a mostly gravel  39 mile route with 3 steep hill climbs over Greenhorn Summit and back over a slightly different route. You will be challenged. 3 rest stops- at the summit either way and in Fort Jones. 4,115 ft. of elevation gain. SAG wagon support. End of ride meal and entertainment and beer for purchase. Starts at 9am on Sunday May 19th from Upper Greenhorn Park.
