Shoreline: 7- or 3-day Bicycling Tour Unveils Northern Michigan’s Hidden Gems

MUP

Shoreline will start in Alpena and end in Traverse City, MI with a big ol’ party to finish. Along the way, riders will discover what it means to go “Up North,” as Michiganders call it, as they roll along the Great Lakes on the Shoreline corridor.

A 7- or 3-day bike tour unlike any other, Shoreline is for all ages and abilities. All bikes are welcome including trikes, recumbents, and e-bikes! Riders can expect to pedal 30-60 miles per day alongside some of the most scenic coastlines and enjoy breathtaking views of Michigan’s many waterways.

Shoreline is a unique, premier experience not only because it shows riders Michigan like they’ve never seen it before, but because it is unmatched in features and services provided. This year, the League of Michigan Bicyclists (LMB), is launching the event with a new philosophy allowing participants to “ride more and stress less.” This approach involves including many elevated amenities with rider registration:

- Breakfast and Dinner on all riding days
- Event jersey - choice between a short-sleeve 3 pocket, MTB long sleeve, or short-sleeve tech tee
- 3 nights in the dorms at Northern Michigan University
- Campsite accommodations (excluding dorm stays) including tent space, snacks, and beverages
- Charging stations in camp and on course for e-bikes and electronics
- Fully stocked AID stations along each route (stations are no more than 20 miles apart)
- Painted road markings and SAG wagons should you need roadside help
- Ferry ticket to visit Mackinac Island with your bike during the layover day in Mackinaw City
- Access to the Ride with GPS app and live turn-by-turn navigation during rides
- Entertainment at night (when available)

“Alongside the new route change, the grand finale at the end of Shoreline is something we are excited about this year,” says Neal Glazebrook, Events Director for LMB. “We’re working with many community partners in the Traverse City region and are excited to share upcoming announcements of the party and celebration of bicycles.” With that in mind, it’s a perfect time to check out Shoreline and get in the cadence of joining LMB for a Michigan adventure every August!
