Two Gran Fondos to Complement Quebec World Tour Races

Serge Arsenault and the group behind the Grand Prix de Cycliste Québec and Montréal announced the details regarding the two Cyclosportives / Gran Fondos that will complement the World Tour races.

La Québécoise will run on Sept. 12, the day before the Quebec City race. Amateur riders will choose one of three routes. The shortest route at 85-km runs mostly on Île d’Orléans to the northeast of the city. The intermediate loop (130-km) will take riders north to Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury and the Jacques Cartier River. Cyclists will come back to the city via Cap-Rouge. The big ride (165 km) builds on the intermediate one by adding Pont-Rouge in the west. Riders will feel the hills of the region in their legs. The intermediate ride has an elevation gain of 1,714 m; the advanced, 1,970 m.

Two days later, La Montréalaise will run from Montreal. The event’s three loops 95, 145 and 190 kms, extend south of the city into rural Quebec. The longest route will take riders just short of the U.S. border and to the 342 m Covey Hill.

At both cyclosportives, cyclists will receive a jersey.

There will be feed stations along the routes and a hot buffet meal at the end.
