Good news for La Mamotte Granfondo Alps Participants

Last week's freak rainstorms in the that sent a deluge of rain, rocks and mud down into the valleys nearly wiping out the village of La Bérarde.

The final kilometre of the mighty Col du Galibier has been opened by snow plows, not officially open as some snow has fallen back onto the road which will be cleared. This means the famous climbs used in the Tout de France and the La Mamotte Granfondo Alps are now open and the races can resume this June and July.

Alex Aznar from Valencia, Spain rode the whole of the Marmote course on Sunday June 23rd which he recorded below on Strava too.

La Marmotte Granfondo Alps was brought forward a day because of Snap French Elections. The event which attracts over 7,000 cyclists from around the world, uses both climbs before finishing atop L'Alpe du Huez from the base of Bourg d'Oisans.

Arguably one of the hardest Gran Fondo's in Europe, the event has been re-scheduled to take place next weekend on Saturday June 29th. Participants are advised to continue to follow the organizers social media channels this week.
