Over 5,000 cyclists took on, arguably one of the hardest Granfondo's in the world, tackling the famous climbs of the Tour de France including the Galibier and L'Alpe d'Huez

Participants of the Marmotte Granfondo Alps spend hours on their bike training to be able to finish on the legendary climb of Alpe d’Huez conquering it's steep 21 hairpins bends. It demands courage, dedication and determination to even attempt this challenge across the climbs of the Glandon, Télégraphe, Galibier and Alpe d’Huez. This year's Gran Fondo was 177km with over 5,000m of climbing.

Whether they aim for a certain time or just to be able to finish, every participant leaves Alpe d’Huez with a satisfying feeling knowing they have conquered this challenge.

This year's winner is Italian Giuseppe Orlando (Cycling Explorers), who finished in a time of 5h 23m 16s ahead of Frenchman Loïc Ruffaut 2m 1s behind, with Belgian Tim Alleman (Grinta Magazine) in third place nearly 3 minutes behind.

Orlando recently won the Sportful Dolomiti Gran Fondo too. His brother Emilio was there to celebrate his victory.

In the women category, Frenchwomen Aurore Pauchet was the fastest in a time of 6h 55m 9s ahead of Frenchwomen Julie Heimer in second in a time of 7:07:50 with Dutchwomen Inez Van Hulsen in third in a time of 7:10:01.

The Look Marmotte Gran Fondo Alps is a an ultimate Bucket List ride for up to 7,000 cyclists with 88% coming from abroad. This year, over 5,000 took part after the race was re-scheduled a day in advance due snap French Elections.
