Full list of riders confirmed Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race

A Tour de France champion, a world champion, multiple stage winners of Grand Tours and champions of the biggest One-Day Classics from across the world are just some of the well-credentialed riders set to race in the men’s and women’s editions of the 2025 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.s

182 riders (98 men and 84 women) form 14 men’s and 14 women’s teams arriving in Victoria, each with their own stories and ambitions. With valuable points up for grabs, teams will be hungry for success in the mid-week lead-in races, and the ultimate reward as we crown the first one-day race champion on the 2025 UCI WorldTour calendar.

Legendary Welsh cyclist, Geraint Thomas (INEOS Grenadiers) will ride in what will be the beginning of a farewell season for the 2018 Tour de France champion.

By G’s side will be 2014 Road Race World Champion Michal Kwiatkowski (INEOS Grenadiers) of Poland. Winner of Milan – San Remo and other one-day classics, Kwiato is a genuine champion of the road who’ll be looking to guide a team that means business.

American superstar Chloé Dygert (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto) is a two-time ITT World Champion, finished second in last year’s road race in Zurich, and is a three-time Olympic medallist on the track.

Teammate and local Victorian hope, Neve Bradbury (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto) will give Aussie fans a reason to cheer. Bradbury finished the 2024 season as Australia’s top-ranked rider via the UCI, coming in at #10 in the world. Her rise up the charts is well-deserved following an impressive hilltop stage win at the 2024 Giro d’Italia and another awesome strategic performance at the Tour de Suisse.

German powerhouse team Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe arrive in Victoria on fire with a former champion and wins already on the board in 2025. Reigning champion Laurence Pithie will be looking to make history with his new team this year after a photo-finish win for the then-21-year-old last January. Success followed Pithie after Geelong last year, in which he briefly held the yellow jersey at Paris–Nice and recorded a top-10 finish at Paris–Roubaix.

Joining Pithie is Aussie sprint machine Sam Welsford, who will have buoyed the confidence of the squad having found the finish line first five times in his first five races of the year – including the two stages of the Tour Down Under, the pre-event criterium, and the Australian National Criterium title. The WA-born 29-year-old was part of Australia’s gold-medal-winning Team Pursuit crew at the Paris Olympics and should he find himself with juice remaining in a bunch sprint, will be hard to outsprint to any line.

In the royal blue and red of FDJ – SUEZ, Swiss ace Elise Chabbey is a powerful performer who is very capable of a one-day victory in 2025. A cross-code champion, Chabbey is not only an elite cyclist but also renowned as an Olympic kayaker and a doctor. New Zealand teammate Ally Wollaston will also be one to watch, joining the famous French team as an exciting 2025 signing.

Nicknamed the ‘Smiling Assassin’, Esteban Chaves (EF Education – EasyPost) will be racing for a third time at the Cadel Road Race. The happy-go-lucky Colombian climber won the Il Lombardia nine years ago and has five Grand Tour stage wins to his name. He’ll impart his experience on a young team, none of whom are above 23-years-of-age.

Currently 13th on the individual UCI World Rankings, Karlijn Swinkels (UAE Team ADQ) of The Netherlands is a seriously talented rider who experienced a stellar season last year, winning the women’s Ardennes classic, the Grand Prix de Wallonie.

On her team is Italian sprinter Sofia Bertizzolo saluted at the 2024 Geelong Classic mid-week race, and Poland’s Dominika Wlodarczyk who finished second in the weekend’s main race.

The Israel – Premier Tech team bound for Geelong is immensely talented, as they look to secure team promotion to the WorldTour in 2026. Their all-Commonwealth lineup features 24-year-old Kiwi Corbin Strong who goes from strength-to-strength, and Welshman Stephen Williams who experienced a stellar 2024 which included GC wins at the Tour Down Under and the Tour of Britain while also winning the Ardennes one-day classic La Fleche Wallonne.

Joining them is 2024 Canadian Road Race Champion and four-time Grand Tour stage winner Michael Woods, who famously won the climb up Puy de Dome volcano at the 2023 Tour de France. Aussie journeyman Simon Clarke returns to Geelong for the fourth time, having finished on the Cadel’s podium twice before.

Lidl – Trek, the US-licensed team returns with 24-year-old Kiwi Niamh Fisher-Black who joins the team in 2025. Fisher-Black cemented herself as a contender on the world stage at last year’s Giro d’Italia, winning the hilltop finish of Stage 4. Teammate, Aussie Amanda Spratt simply loves racing at Cadel’s. The 2016 winner of our race has finished on the podium a further three times (2019, 2020, 2023) and will guide the team with invaluable expertise.

A new name and a new set of riders will race for Team Picnic PostNL at the 2025 Cadel Road Race. The team will be as confident as ever, with 22-year-old Scotsman Oscar Onley expected to make a big showing in Geelong. Onley took a tumble at the 2024 Cadel Road Race and unfortunately did not finish, but given a clear run, is one to watch out for on the one-day classic course that should suit.
