Tour de Big Bear Launches Exciting NEW XC Mountain Bike Race for 2025

The Big Bear Cycling Association (BBCA) is excited to unveil the latest addition to the renowned Tour de Big Bear: the all-new “Dirty Burro 50K XC Mountain Bike Race.” Set to take mountain biking enthusiasts through some of California’s most picturesque and challenging trails, this race is poised to become an annual favorite.

Building upon Big Bear’s storied history of extraordinary mountain biking, the Dirty Burro 50K continues the spirit of Big Bear mounting bike racing, offering participants the chance to tackle a unique and exhilarating XC course. With Big Bear Lake as a legendary backdrop, riders will enjoy breathtaking scenery and stunning vistas at the top of the San Bernardino National Forest.

A Challenge Like No Other

The race will cover a thrilling 36 miles, starting with a 4-mile neutral rollout before immersing riders into demanding single-track and double-track trails. Key features include the infamous Delamar Climb, with its heart-pounding 11.6% grade that promises to test even the most seasoned cyclists. Three aid stations strategically placed to ensure that participants can refuel and recharge, while the final descent into Holcomb Valley offers an epic finish.

Course Details & Registration

The Dirty Burro 50K will commence at Bear Mountain Resort, culminating near the North Shore. Participants can expect 50 kilometers of rugged single-track and double-track trails, with an elevation gain of 3,177 feet and a total loss of 3,494 feet. Riders will be awarded with age group medals, overall finisher awards and more, visit the website for specifics. Final course specifics will be released in July, and riders are encouraged to register now to secure their spots and begin preparations for this remarkable event.
