Gran Fondo New York Results 2013
Over 5,000 cyclists lined up on the George Washington Bridge to take part in undoubtedly, North America's largest and professionally run Gran Fondo.
Riders from all over the globe - battled high winds, rain and freezing conditions.
Conditions were so tough that initial reports suggest - only3,500 riders made it to the finish line.
The first to finish on the full 105 mile course with 8,000 feet of climbing, was Stefano Nicoloetti from Modena in Italy - who broke away with a group of 7 riders early on and solo'd for over 50 miles.
Congratulations to the event organisers, their partners and their staff, some of who spent their day in a cloud - feeding banana's to freezing but smiling cyclists.
The NYPD were on hand to make sure cyclists were marshalled at every single junction - standing in the rain all day!
