2014 Gran Fondo Damiano Cunego Announced

Yesterday at the Verona awards UNESCO Cycling Tour - hosted by GF Damiano Cunego. 

Cantina Valpantena announced details of the  2014 edition. 

The Gran Fondo will take place Monday, June 2nd, 2014 the day after the conclusion of the Tour of Italy. 

Two classic routes with start and finish in Via d'Arezzo.

Winter is still visible and you feel a little cold everywhere, with that in mind that you decide not to cycle! But cycling enthusiasts are itching to get going and there are others who are working hard for the season ahead. 

In Verona the air is already full of the Gran Fondo Damiano Cunego. The 9th edition is scheduled for Monday, June 2. The epic race starts in the center of the city of Verona and runs through the most beautiful and challenging part of the 'UNESCO Cycling Tour.

The circuit also includes other races related to UNESCO sites such as GF Vernaccia di San Gimignano , GF Straducale of Urbino and the GF of the Cinque Terre.

Yesterday in Verona, guests of the GF Damiano Cunego and Cantina Valpantena - Verona historic partner of the race, awards were held around last year's circuit and the presentation of UNESCO Cycling Tour 2014. 

It was also time, with the presence of the sport in the City of Verona, for Marco Giorlo, to present the ninth edition of June 2, in the presence of the Damiano parents - as he is currently involved in the Challenge Mallorca.

The race dedicated to the "Little Prince" has two routes, the Gran Fondo of 145 km (height gain 3,300 m.) and the Medio Fondo 85 km (height gain 1,400 m.), With the option to choose either route in the race, at the junction St. Vitale Roverè Veronese (at km 62), if you go for the more challenging, then bend in the direction of Verona. 

From 12.45 pm all competitors in transit Roverè Veronese must be diverted to the Medio Fondo path.

The area of origin and destination will be in Verona, via Guido d'Arezzo, as in past editions, an area that offers a first-rate logistics thanks to the wide open spaces, village expo and convenient parking.

The race will start at 9:00am with immediate entry onto the path, both paths will point to the Valpantena, climbing starting at Erbezzo with the now-classic time trial of around 9 km from the resort to Step Bellori and onto the  Lessini Mountains where the race returns to the passage of Roverè Veronese. 

At that point, at km 62, the two paths divide, those who choose the Medio Fondo will have nearly completed their day of toil and involerà to the finish line of the Via d'Arezzo, who instead opt for the Gran Fondo will still have to be overcome some nice test of strength, including one of the most beautiful climbs and tougher competition, that of Campofontana.

Registrations are already open.

Until March 31, the fee is fixed at € 30 and € 25 for males and females, then until April 30, the rates go up 5 euro and other from May 5 euro.
