Third route added to 2024 Granfondo La Fausto Coppi

The 35th edition of the Cuneo based international cycling marathon, organised by the ASD Fausto Coppi , offers a new route, 100 km and 2,180 metres of climbing.

Alongside the two traditional routes, the Mediofondo route (111 km and 2,550 metres of climbing) and the Granfondo route (178 km and 4,125 metres of climbing).

A tribute to the mountain that is the symbol of the race, the Colle Fauniera, is for those who love cycling and do not want to miss the pleasure of admiring an extraordinary alpine landscape, without having to deal with timing and the clock.

The Fauniera Classic is a non-competitive route, with no final classification, but with measured times. After the start with the entire group of over 2,500 cyclists, from Piazza Galimberti in Cuneo, those who choose this new route will follow the Mediofondo route up to Colle Fauniera, at 2,481 metres above sea level. The descent will then follow a different road that will bring cyclists back to Cuneo without having to climb the other passes such as the Madonna del Colletto climb.

La Fausto Coppi is one of the Toughest Granfondos in Europe and one of the most scenic by bringing cyclists to see Alpine sceneries of incomparable beauty.

The new route is intended to bring more and more cycling enthusiasts to participate in the event, even those who are not fit enough for the Medio or Gran. The new route will offer the opportunity for more cyclists to enjoy a unique and memorable experience, in the atmosphere of an international event where participants from over thirty nations will meet and mix. The Colle Fauniera will be the only KOM of the day and will reward the athletes with extraordinary Alpine panoramas.

The event starts on June 30th 2024, limited to 3,000 cyclists. To date, more than 600 athletes have already registered from 23 different countries, including some new countries including Finland, Kenya, Ethiopia, New Zealand and Estonia.

Because of Christmas, the organisers have decided to extend registering for the event at a fee of €60.00 up to and including 7 January, when the new fee of €70.00 will be triggered.

"Even the 2024 edition will be a great celebration of sport, of friendship, of homage to the mountains and to cycling," say Davide Lauro and Emma Mana, president and vice-president of the Fausto Coppi on the road association. "The new Fauniera Classic is intended to be a new promotion of this extraordinary territory and we are convinced that many cyclists will be able to enjoy this experience.”

More information will be announced shortly.

Registration is open. 2nd fee increase, to 70 euro, postponed to 8 January 2024.
