L’Etape Denmark by Tour de France is back to challenge your inner Viking in June 2025

Last year, altogether, over 7,000 cyclists worldwide from over 25 countries took part in the road, gravel, MTB and family rides celebrating in VIP Tour de France style afterwards.

The 3rd edition of the L'Etape Denmark is also a great opportunity to experience the number 1 cycling country! Being far away from the busy cities and streets of Copenhagen, Jutland and the rolling hills of the ancient road offers the best riding in the world.

What makes this event so special compared to others is, that it's a point to point race, which follows an ancient road Hærvejen, a route traveled by Vikings and pilgrims for centuries that travels through Denmark.

The road follows the natural ridge that was formed through Jutland during the last ice age, simply because it was the highest point. Now, it’s your turn!

At the center of all of this is Denmark's former capital city, Viborg, which is one of Denmark's oldest and most historic cities over 1,000 years old. It makes it the perfect finishing destination of all of the L'Etape Denmark routes.

Along the ancient roads, you’ll pass by several historic spots. The most interesting is probably the Jelling Monuments, which is the home of the two most famous Viking Kings Harald Bluetooth and Gorm the Old. Their home is today marked by a set of old runestones. You’ll literally pass right by while riding on a red carpet. To further enhance the experience, a local group of Vikings are out to cheer the riders on and add to the atmosphere.

With the red carpet welcoming riders to the finish line, you can celebrate in the finishing area in the in the city of Viborg “Tour Village”, which will be clad in yellow with Live Music, food, drink and the podium presentations of the Yellow, Green and Polka Dot jerseys to the best amateur cyclists.

The finish line in the city of Viborg was be clad in yellow and built just like a “Tour Village with the red carpet welcoming riders to the finish line.

This is not just a race to finish first – it’s a personal challenge, a chance to push your limits, feel your body work, and share the experience with like-minded cyclists.
