Competing against storm force 7 (50 mph) winds, more than 300 crazy Dutch competitors rode the 8.5 km course on upright single-speed bikes.

The championships are announced three days before a storm is expected.  A total of 200 individual cyclists can participate, plus 25 teams of four cyclists. Participants start 30 seconds apart from each other and the one with the fastest time wins.

This year Jurjen Van Der Velde won in a time of 19:36 beating former pros Laurens ten Dam and Stephen Bolt on a tandem 6 seconds behind with Nikola Blom in third 14 seconds behind.

Ingrid van de Wijngaard won the womens category in 23:11, with Joy Droogsma in second 22 seconds behind and Nelleke Balde 1 min behind in third place.

The team competition consists 4 riders pushing each other with one hand. Team Why Tell Me Waai won in 20:49 ahead of team Fgm raggende mannen in second place and team Zonnegoden in third place.

In 2023 the event was cancelled because it was too windy!
