Conquer the Green Mountains: Join the 11th Annual Vermont Gran Fondo

The Vermont Gran Fondo is an annual cycling event held in the heart of the Green Mountains, designed to challenge cyclists of all abilities. With a focus on community, endurance, and the love of cycling, the Gran Fondo offers a unique opportunity to experience Vermont’s stunning landscapes while pushing personal limits.

With a variety of challenging courses designed for cyclists of all levels, this year’s event promises to push limits and inspire riders to embrace the thrill of the mountain roads.

The Vermont Gran Fondo has become a staple in the cycling community, attracting riders from around the globe who seek the perfect blend of challenge and scenic beauty. This year’s event will offer a selection of distances ranging from 40 to an exhilarating 150 miles, allowing participants to choose a challenge that suits their abilities and ambitions.

Among the standout offerings is the 150-mile Gran-X course, introduced last year to celebrate the event's milestone anniversary. With over 13,700 feet of climbing and six formidable mountain gaps—including the notorious Lincoln, Appalachian, and Middlebury Gaps—this course is not for the faint of heart. Cyclists eager to take on the Gran-X will have the opportunity to test their endurance against some of the steepest climbs in the U.S., including the east side of Lincoln Gap, which boasts a staggering 24% maximum grade.

For those looking for a slightly less daunting challenge, the 2025 Gran course will also feature a 109-mile route with an impressive 9,850 feet of climbing and four challenging gaps. Riders will ascend the Appalachian, Lincoln, Middlebury, and Brandon Gaps, each offering their own unique challenges and stunning vistas.

“The Vermont Gran Fondo is not just a ride; it’s an experience that combines the thrill of cycling with the unparalleled beauty of Vermont’s landscape,” said Todd Warnock, Event Director. “We invite cyclists of all levels to join us, whether they are seasoned veterans or new to the sport.”

To kick off the excitement leading up to the event, Vermont Gran Fondo is organizing a Spring Training Group Ride on May 3, 2025, in Peru, Vermont. Cyclists will gather at the JJ Happgood Eatery for a 40 to 50-mile gravel ride, followed by lunch and an insightful discussion with Coach Greg about the training program. Signups for this limited-capacity event will open in early March, with a maximum of 50 riders.

With a commitment to fostering a vibrant cycling community, the Vermont Gran Fondo continues to inspire riders to challenge themselves, celebrate their achievements, and embrace the spirit of adventure that defines this remarkable event.
