Top Gravel Stars confirmed for 2nd edition of the Growler Race at Levi's Gran Fondo
Levi's GranFondo to Livestream the Growler Road Race on April 19th starting at 11am PST. De Crescenzo and Swenson to defend titles.
Levi's GranFondo, the annual mass-participation road cycling event in Sonoma County, will livestream the last two hours of its professional road race, The Growler, and will be available to watch globally. The Levi's GranFondo Growler cycling race streams April 19, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. PT on levisgranfondo.com.
With support from Skipstone and other partners, Levi's GranFondo is bringing live, long-distance road racing back to the United States for the first time since the end of the Amgen Tour of California, USA Pro Cycling Challenge, Tour of Utah and other previous live broadcasts.
The race will showcase the beautiful Sonoma County landscape and wine region with its world-famous roads that attract cyclists from all over the world.
In the women’s category Emily Newsom, Flavia Oliveira Parks, Heather Jackson, Isabel King, Lauren Stephens, Sarah Sturm return to race the second edition along with title holder Lauren De Crescenzo.
They will have their work cut out as Sofia Gomez Villafane has confirmed her attendance alongside riders including Paige Onweller.
In the men’s category, Alex Wild, Griffin Easter, Harrison Biehl, Ian Boswell, Lawrence Naeson, Matthew Wiebe, Peter Stetina, Petr Vakoc and Ted King return along with title holder Keegan Swenson.
Again they will have their work cut out as Alex Howes, Matt Beers, Mattia de Marchi have confirmed their participation.
In the inaugural women's race Lauren De Crescenzo attacked with some 80 miles to go and time trialled solo to the finish, some 12 minutes ahead of U.S. Gravel National Champion Lauren Stephens in second place, with Belgian Waffle Ride winner Sarah Sturm in third place. In the men's race, SBT GRVL champion Keegan Swenson outsprinted former WordTour pro Belgian rider Lawrence Naesen in second, with 2016 Brabantse Pijl champion Petr Vakoc in third place.
"The thrill of watching a long-distance road race is unquestionable and has been sorely missing in the U.S. for too long. We believe this event will be a pivotal moment for domestic racing and inspire public interest in the sport. Providing athletes with the opportunity to compete and showcase their skills to a wider domestic audience will ultimately contribute to the development of talent on North American soil," said Levi's GranFondo co-founder and Bike Monkey Founder Carlos Perez.
All participants who complete The Growler at Levi's GranFondo will earn themselves a unique, one-of-a-kind finisher’s award and the race is open to anyone.
