Look Marmotte Hochkönig joins UCI Gran Fondo World Series
An additional event has been added to the 2017 calendar in June; the Marmotte Hochkönig in Austria will be the 20th qualification event of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series. The only one in the Alps.
The LOOK Marmotte Hochkönig is the newest member of the iconic Marmotte family (LOOK Marmotte Granfondo Series), in addition to the world-famous Marmotte Alpes and the Marmotte Pyrenées, which joined last year.
Starting in the Austrian town of Mühlbach am Hochkönig, where the finish is also located, this Marmotte will take the riders across 5 climbs in the region of the Hochkönig, over a total distance of 167km (with 3462m elevation).
From the get-go, riders will immediately climb 6.5km to the 1370m-high Dientner Sattel, followed by the Filzensattel (1290m).
The middle part of the course will be slightly flatter, until km 82 where the climb of the Griessenpass (986m) begins.
Towards the finish, riders will be ascending the Dientner Sattel once more (from the other direction), followed by the final climb to Mühlbach am Hochkönig (1502m).
On 17th of June, The LOOK Marmotte Hochkönig will be the 20th event of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series and thus the perfect opportunity to fight for a starting place in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships at the end of August in Albi, France.
The top 25% per age category will qualify for the official World Championships for Gran Fondo riders.
