Viviani Sprints to Stage 3 Victory in Romandie
Fabio Felline retains overall lead as Viviani takes the stage sprint
An early break of seven riders got away including; Toms Skujinš, Nikita Stalnov, Hugo Houle, Victor Campenaerts, Thomas De Gendt, Davide Martinelli, Lukas Pöstlberger and gained a maximum lead of 3 minutes.
The Peloton wasn't prepared to make the same mistake again, so started to chase.
The break was caught with 37 kms to go. A few attacks from Clarke, Courteille, Van der Sande and Reichenbach were brought back.
With 24 kms to go, Alex Dowsett heads attacked, but with 3 kms to go was caught by the charging sprinters team in the peloton.
In the sprint Elia Viviani out sprinted Sonny Colbrelli, determined to show his strength and resilience after the disappointment of not being selected for Team Sky’s squad for the Giro d’Italia.
