Richie Porte wins the Tour of Romandie
Porte makes up time on Simon Yates as Primoz Roglic is fastest in the final time trial
Richie Porte managed to make up the 19 seconds deficit on Yates in the final time trial to take victory. Bitter sweet for Simon to lose the yellow jersey on the final day but a valiant and noble effort put in a better time trial than previously.
Primoz Roglic posted the fastest time of24m and 58s to take the stage and put him in 3rd spot on the Podium.
Richie Porte has shown his stellar form ahead of the Grand Tours of which he now becomes a firm favorite.
Chris Froome showed that his form isn't there just yet and still has some work to do. His final test will be the Citerium du Duphine at the begining of June where he'll have his final test before the Tour de France. Froome got dropped on stage 4 of this year's Tour de Romandie. Chris Froome lost 26 minutes at Catalunya earlier this season. Team Sky’s GC hopes were dashed on a bad day at the Volta a Catalunya. The British team were caught out by a split in the peloton on the day’s first climb.
Richie Porte has had good season so far winning the Tour Down Under, he also fought back at Paris-Nice, after a disastrous start on the first two stages of the race, Porte fought back winning the Queen stage, attacking on the final climb as Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step Floors) lost the overall lead.
Richie Porte believes he can beat Chris Froome at the Tour de France and is relishing his role as team leader for the forthcoming season at BMC racing.
