Astana's Luis Leon Sanchez on the mend after Horrific crash
Astana's Luis Leon Sanchez was seen lying on a curb after a high speed crash with 40 kms to go on stage 2 of the Tour de France. He was forced to withdraw after suffering five fractures, one to his elbow and four fractured ribs
The Spaniard crashed as the peloton increased the pace with 40 kilometres to go on stage 2 of the Tour last Sunday. In dramatic pictures Sanchez was seen lying on top a curb in agony.
Sanchez was seen trying to get back on his bike to attempt to finish the stage, the pain proved too much and he was seen being helped into an ambulance.
Further examination at the local hospital of La Roche-sur-Yon showed that the he had fractured his elbow and fractured four of his left ribs.
Sanchez under went surgery to his elbow in Spain today and he's already feeling a lot better.
