Belgian Tim Alleman wins stage 1 of La Trilogy de Maurienne at the Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series
Belgian Tim Alleman victorious as over 200 cyclists from 14 nationalities battle it out on the toughest climbs in French cycling
(Paris, France, July 13) - The first stage of La Trilogy de Maurinenne saw amateur riders tackle two tough "Hors Category" (beyond category) mountain passes in the French Alps.
Over 200 participants from 14 different nationalities represented, tackled stage 1 of 3 stages at the “La Trilogy de Maurienne", the seventh round of the expanding global Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series.
Cyclists finished with a final climb up to the “Hors Category” “Col du la Madeleine”, one of the legendary climbs of the Tour de France.

Riders had already climbed the iconic switchbacks of the “Col du Chausy” , passing the famous “Lacets du Montvernier”, allowing cyclists to experience the same roads and climbs that the Tour de France peloton will tackle next week.
Finishing in a time of 1 hour 44 minutes, Belgian cyclist Tim Alleman take the lead in the three day stage race Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series rankings, by the Norwegian Jon Breivold and Frenchman Spepahn Cognet finishing under a minute behind.
In the women's race Nancy Van Der Burg from the Netherlands took the lead ahead of French women Lena Bonnel and Victoria Alpen from Czech Republic.

Tomorrow's second stage will tackle some of the most famous and difficult Tour de France climsb of the, Col du Telegraphe and Col duGalibier, to complete a 98 km stage that will surely mark the leaders of Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series and the winners of the three day trilogy.
The Maurienne Trilogy is one of the oldest and hardest events in the French cyclosportive calendar and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful!

Stage 1
The first stage on July 13 includes the HC climbs of the Col du Chaussy and Col del la Madeleine over 72 kms and 2,530m of climbing.

Stage 2
The second stage include the HC climbs of the Col du Telegraphe and Col du Galibier over 98kms and 2,540m of climbing.

Stage 3
The final stage includes the first category climbs of the Col de la Croix de Fer and Col du Mollard for the final assault up the HC climb of Montee de la Toussuire ski staion before dscending down to Pierrepin for the final climb up to Ct Sorlin d'Araves.
