More than 2,000 participants from 77 different nationalities registered and took the opportunity to ride the traffic free roads of the iconic city
The biggest cycling-for-all event in the Middle East could present an extended course to reach the 100km mark for their tenth edition.
After three build-up rides, more than 2000 participants from 77 different nationalities registered and took the opportunity to ride the traffic free roads of the iconic city. The race was held for the first time in November.
Slovenian ex professional rider Janez Brajkovic (9th in the Tour de France 2012) was one of the famous riders at the start and managed to win the event. With his UCI points, he will however not be taken into account for qualification. Second place was for Emirati Erwan Sidaner before Serbian Bojan Durdic in a fast and flat race.
In the UCI Gran Fondo, Russian Bojan Durdic won a large sprint in a time of 2h 18m 49s. Steve James from Australia and Shannon O’Connor finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.
First female was Dutch Annemiek Stegehuis who beat her compatriot Nienke Gelderloos and Spanish Mireia Mujika.
