Farm to Fork Fondo: Building Fitness and Supporting Local Farms ... at a Distance
Farm to Fork Fondo are Staying Fit and Supporting Local Farms Right Now!
Whether you have access to nearby trails, or just some floor space in your living room, Wrenegade Sports have got you covered.
Farm to Fork Fondo are taking social distancing very seriously, and we hope that you are, too. At the same time, they did not work so hard all winter to maintain fitness just to lose it all now!
Whether you find yourself trying to build your fitness with more free time on your hands or do what you can to maintain it during these difficult times, you’re in good company.
If you plan to stay indoors: Farm to Fork Fondo have seen what athletes are doing at home, as well the news of Peloton offering a free 90 day trial to new users (no bike required!). Many workout apps are even offering free services right now. Whether you plan to double-down on your weekly miles on your trainer (find us on Zwift by searching “Farm to Fork”!) or are excited about mixing things up with cross-training, now is the time.
If you’re able to get outside: Farm to Fork Fondo have seen consistent recommendations that fresh air and vitamin D will help to make social distancing a little more manageable. Bicycling Magazine has great information and recommendations for anyone able to get out and ride. Runners World does the same for anyone looking to hoof it.
What’s the best way to support your local farms during a pandemic?
Farm to Fork Fondo been on the phone with partner farms every day this week, and they are feeling just as uncertain as the rest of us. We’re reading the latest news while also asking our farmers what we can do to help.
Support your local farms. The consistent message is this: if your local farm offers Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), Buying Club, Farm Share, or any other pay-in-advance model to guarantee fresh meat and/or produce during the growing season, sign up now. This is the best way to support your farms as they navigate the uncertainty of the moment along with the rest of us. We like to think of it as a generous donation today and a surprise of delicious food later!
Support businesses that support farms.
Buying workout fuel from our partners at UnTapped is a great way to support Vermont farmers - use code F2FFondo2020 for 20% off a purchase on their website.
Buying CBD products from our partners at Floyd’s of Leadville is a great way to support Amish hemp farmers in our Pennsylvania Dutch community.
The Finger Lakes venue Atwater Estate Vineyards is offering $10 shipping on cases of wine grown and produced on their property.
