Gran Fondo National Series Launches 2020 Solo Fondos, powered by Ride with GPS
(Gettysburg, PA – May 27, 2020) – The Gran Fondo National Series today announced four ‘Solo Fondos’ that leverage the Ride with GPS app to encourage cyclists to complete official GFNS courses on their own any time in June 2020, have their performances gathered on leaderboards, and win overall and age group awards as well as sponsor prizes.
GFNS is hosting Solo Fondos at the four locations of 2020 early-season events that had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic:
Solo Fondo Florida: San Antonio, FL
TT1 Tour of Georgia Solo Fondo: Helen, GA
Highlands Solo Fondo: Butler, NJ
Golden Solo Fondo: Golden, CO
“While it may be too soon for cyclists to stand together on the start line of a Gran Fondo National Series event, our scenic and challenging routes are out there begging to be ridden,” said Series Director Reuben Kline. “Cyclists have been following the rules, riding solo and staying near home, and as restrictions ease people are ready to get out of town and ride something other than their local loops.”
There is no charge to participate in a GFNS Solo Fondo, and each Solo Fondo includes Gran, Medio, and Piccolo course options. Riders can complete the Solo Fondo anytime from June 1 – June 30 and upload their ride file to Ride with GPS by July 1, 2020 to be counted in the official results. Awards will be mailed to Overall Male and Female winners, as well as male and female Age Group winners, and sponsor prizes will be available for all riders who complete a Solo Fondo.
Riders can register at https://www.granfondonationalseries.com/solo-fondo. A free or premium Ride with GPS account is required for participation.
