Denmark and Melbourne to host UCI Gran Fondo World Championships

At a meeting in Imola, Italy during the 2020 UCI Road World Championships, the Management Committee of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) awarded the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships to Aalborg, Demark and Melbourne, Australia.
The events will enable amateur riders who qualify at different qualification events organised throughout the world to race for the rainbow jersey in their respective category. The city has solid experience in the organisation of mass participation events, and Denmark is one of the leading nations when it comes to the promotion of cycling.
Aalborg is in the north of Denmark and Denmark one of the biggest cycling nations.
Melbourne is in South Australia and the event will be organized by the same company that produces the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and amatuer Gran Fondo every year.
Gran Fondo Guide is an official media partner if the UCI and the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
