Julian Alaphilippe wins the UCI World Championships Road Race
23 years since a Frenchmen has won the Raindbow Jersey!
Julian Alaphilippe stormed to the men’s elite road world title at the UCI Road World Championships in Imola after a devestating attack over the final climb and a dramatic finish on the Imola motor racing circuit.
The Frenchman attacked on the final climb of the Cima Gallisterna with 12km to go and established a 12 second advantage over a world-class chase group, including Van Aert, Hirschi,Kwaitkoski,Roglic and Fuglsang.
In the sprint behind, Wout Van Aert was second with Marc Hirschi (Switzerland) in third.
