Continental Ciclobrava, hosted by Sea Otter Europe Festival, a Huge Success
600 cyclists enjoyed sunny Costa Brava roads whilst adhering to Catalonia's social distancing guidlelines - thanks to team Ociesport!
Last weekend was the third Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series event to take place since the COVID peak back in mid-March.
The success of the event was mainly due to Albert Balcells and his Ociesport team. Balcells has years of experience organizing hundreds of cycling and running events.
Ociesport team were able to organize a 600 participant "Gran Fondo" with separated start groups, and special guidelines under Catalonina Governement approval for social distancing.
Riders were checked for COVID, had to wear masks at the start and finish, and maintain social distancing at all times.
Out on the roads, cyclists were able to remove their masks and enjoy the ride!
Participants enjoyed one of 3 distances; a 140km Gran Fondo, 100km Medio Fondo and a 70 km Piccolo Fondo.
It was a beautiful sunny day in Girona and along the stunning Costa Brava coastal roads.
Participants also enjoyed full traffic management by local Police to provide safety, especially at numerous cross roads.
The most important thing to note is that the Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series is back on the road again and everyone had a fun day!
Dani Buyo, Founder and CEO of the Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series was there to help support the event and the series.
One rider who completed the Gran Fondo commented afterwards "Hats off to Albert Balcells and his Ociesport team, the local police, Sea Otter Europe Festival, the Catalonina Government! I was a bit nervous the day leading up to the event, but I'm so glad I came and took part. It feels great to be back on the road again riding in a Gran Fondo. The social distancing guidelines during the ride were easy to follow and made the event feel much more relaxed and fun to ride. I had a blast! Thank you!"
Dani Buyo, Founder and CEO of the Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series commented "I'm so glad that everyone had such a good day. Thank you to all the riders who came out and followed the social distancing rules. It's wonderful to see everyone back on the roads again, rather than stuck at home on their trainers or training alone."
We are happy!
