Don´t miss this fantastic cycling event where you will ride by the best routes on the south of the Spanish island of Gran Canaria and get treated like a pro cyclist.
Former riders include David Lopez (Team Sky), Pedro Sanchez, Davide Rebellin, Dani Moreno and 3 times world champion Oscar Freire who said, “It’s a beautiful, very different experience, and the first race of the year” .
The Epic Gran Canaria offers a high-level experience and high-altitude cycling over two days, far from the bad weather on the peninsula, and in an environment that seems like an eternal spring for riding a bike. Long days, pleasant temperatures and a cycling-friendly atmosphere.
The event is part of the 2022 Gran Fondo World Tour series and is "UCI cycling for All" accredited.
Gran Canaria is located in the Atlantic Ocean 100 miles off the western coast of Morroco and about 800 miles southeast from Europe. The largest mountain is the 1,956 m (6,417 ft) Morro de la Agujereada. Gran Canaria sits in the middle of Tenerife in the west and Lanzarote in the east. It’s is easy to get to, between 3 to 4 hours from mainland Europe and the UK.
The 3 day cycling festival includes 2 stages with 3 timed sections that count towards the general classification and podium prizes across a wide range of age categories for both men and women.
The views across the island are breathtaking with quiet mountain roads, the average temperature is around 65F (18C) in the day - perfect for cycling.
The two stages start from the host Hotel Riu Palace Maspalomas in the southeast of the island located in the Mirador de las Dunas, a wonderland of dunes, with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the foothills of the Tirajana volcano to the north.

Stage 1 – February 12th
Stage 1 is a 115 km long that includes a 12.3 km timed section up the climb of Cima Pedro Gonzalez and a 45km uphill section from Pasito Blanco to Ayacata.
The timed sections on the roads are closed to traffic. There are three aid stations with food and liquid refreshments at Ayagaures, Philippines and Ayacata).
However, riders shouldn’t let themselves be fooled by the outline. This route has some tricks up its sleeve.
The return trip, through San Bartolomé de Tirajana, winds through the centre of the island, passing through some of its most beautiful villages.
There are three aid stations with food and liquid refreshments. (viewpoint of Ayagaures, Philippines and Ayacata.
The timed sections are closed to traffic.
Stage 2, February 13th
Again stage 2 starts from Hotel Riu Palace Maspalomas, the 75 km stage has one timed section.
The is the 22km climb of Peublo Tirajana, 825m of climbing at an average of 4%.
There is one aid station with food and liquid refreshment point in the Town Square of Tirajana after the timed climb.
The timed section is closed to traffic.
What’s included?
During the race there will be Motorcycle safety, Safety vehicles, Mechanical support, Medical assistance, electronic Timing and food Supplies.
Afterwards there will be the opportunity for a massage, a lunch with daily ranking and awards. Each day there will be a general classification and stage divided by age groups and prizes are awarded to the fastest men and women who have finished each stage.
There will also be a closing party after the final stage.

On the Friday before the race, ex-professionals including Abraham Alano, Joseba Beloki and Manolo Saiz. Manolo will talk to participants about what it’s like to be a professional cyclist, team management, strategies, training, career preparation, experiences, anecdotes and much more.
Accommodation Packages
There is a special accommodation package (EPIC GC2022 Hotel + Event) available for participants at the 4 star Hotel Riu Palace Maspalomas located in the Mirador de las Dunas.
