Founded in 2012 by event director Reuben Kline, the SUAREZ Gran Fondo National Series is the largest and most competitive series of gran fondo cycling events in the United States.

The Series pioneered the time-segment competition format in cycling over 10 years ago, now in partnership with USA Cycling, they annually hold the official USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championship.

This is your opportunity to be crowned National Champion and pull on the coveted Stars and Stripes Gran Fondo National Championship jersey!

Riders have the opportunity to pace themselves and enjoy the view, professional or competitive cyclists can "show their strength" at every timed section. When you’re outside those timed sections, you have an opportunity to look around and enjoy the beautiful scenery, relax, stop at feed stations, regroup with your friends and connect with new friends.

Series events have three courses to suit all abilities of cyclists; a Gran Route (approx. 100 miles, 4 timed sections), a Medio Route (approx. 60 miles, 3 timed sections) and a Piccolo Route (approx. 35 miles, 2 timed sections).

More competitive riders can compete for overall victory and age group podiums for men and women. There is also a team competition, won by the combined time of a team’s fastest three riders. Bonus seconds are awarded for additional team members who finish, meaning there’s a benefit to bringing a larger team.

Custom “Race Winner” cycling kits by SUAREZ cycling are awarded to all Gran Route age group category winners.

No racing license required to participate in Series events. Support includes fully stocked aid stations and SAG support to keep you going. Enjoy fresh healthy food and beer at the finish line, plus chances to win valuable prizes!

Suarez Cycling Apparel continues as title sponsor, the Colombian apparel brand supplies custom winner’s cycling kits for age-group champions at all Series events, a commemorative jersey for US Gran Fondo National Championship event participants, and a custom Gran Fondo National Series kit that will be available for purchase.

Each GFNS event features a raffle with more than $5,000 of prizes from Series sponsors, and ALL riders are eligible to win. New Features in 2023!

In our ongoing efforts to optimize rider experience and convenience, the Series have listened to rider feedback and made the following changes for 2023 events:

- Finisher Medals have been added for Medio and Piccolo riders. (ALL riders will now receive a finisher's award).
- Unified pricing for Gran and Medio routes. Economical entry price for Piccolo riders to encourage beginners and first-timers to participate.

About the Gran Fondo National Series

Founded in 2012 by event director Reuben Kline, the Gran Fondo National Series is the largest and most competitive series of gran fondo cycling events in the United States. Gran Fondo National Series was the first series to implement timed-segment racing into US gran fondo events and has crowned Gran Fondo National Champions and Gran Fondo National Series Champions since 2012. Starting in 2020, the organization entered into a partnership with USA Cycling to bring the existing Gran Fondo National Series events into the USA Cycling portfolio including the presentation of an official USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championship events.
