Slovenian Tadej Pogacar takes command of the Ruta del Sol

The Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) has donned the first yellow jersey of the 69th edition of the Vuelta Ciclista a Andalucía - Ruta del Sol by winning this Wednesday in the first stage, of 179 kilometers disputed between the towns of Puente de Génave and Santiago de la Espada

The escape was formed by the Spaniards Alex Martin (Eolo-Kometa) and Gotzon Martín (Euskaltel - Euskadi), the Frenchman Clément Alleno (Burgos-BH) and the Belgian Aaron Van Poucke (Flanders-Baloise). At 50 kilometers from the end the quartet lost the Frenchman and the Belgian, while the former champion of Spain Omar Fraile (Ineos Grenadiers) was incorporated.

The UAE Emirates team took the lead of the race in the last ascent of the day, that of the Despiernacaballos top, where the group of cyclists with victory options was selected. There, 13 km from the finish line, Tadej Pogacar jumped who without looking back rolled in search of his second victory of the season after the one achieved last Monday in the Classic Jaén Paraíso Interior.

The Ruta del Sol will continue this Thursday with the dispute of its second stage, of 156.1 kilometers with departure in Diezma (Granada) and arrival in Alcalá la Real (Jaén).
