Tadej Pogacar attacks again to win another stage in Andalucia
Just like yesterday, and his third day of racing in 2023, Tadej Pogacar takes his third win!
The Slovenian of UAE Emirates also put his name on the second stage of the Vuelta Andalucia, the Diezma - Alcalà La Real after 156 km.
On the steep uphill finish line after a brutal section of cobblestones, Pogacar got the better of Mas, Buitrago, Landa and Carlo Rodriguez.
Pogacar retains the leader jersey and now leads with 48 seconds on Buitrago and 52 seconds on Landa.
The breakaway of the day included Matej Mohoric, Joe Dombrowski, Iván García Cortina, Nelson Oliveira, Alessandro Covi, Christopher Juul-Jensen, Julen Amezqueta, Davide Bais, Frederik Frison, Luis Angel Mate, Aaron Van Poucke and Alex Colman.
They built up a lead of over 2 minutes and 20 seconds.
With 50km to go, and the lead reduced, Tadej Pogacar attacked to join the breakway.
Mohoric was the first to attack Pogacar to try and take the stage win, but was reeled back in. Enric Mas attacked and Pogacar counterattacked to ride away.
