Thousands of riders complete 2023 Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge in warm Dubai
Hundreds of riders also qualified for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships with $10,000 USD in cash prizes at the 13th edition of Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge
- Elite riders Popov Anton and Olivija Baleisyte stood top of the podium, earning AED 10,000 each in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series qualifier
- Michelle Lindqvist and Lian Aucamp took first place in the Aster Pharmacy BIG 5 Yellow Jersey competition standings
- Si Cox and Claire Martin emerge as the male and female champions of the Aster Pharmacy BIG 5 Blue Jersey competition
- Cyclists of all ages took part in the GEMS Education Junior Rides and the TotalEnergies Outride for the 2023 event
Taking in stunning Dubai views and iconic locations along the 95.4km Gran Fondo route, riders participating in the main event were in for a surprise, as for the first time, the course passed Expo City Dubai in an anti-clockwise direction.
Starting from Dubai International Stadium in Dubai Sports City, riders and racers also took in Dubai’s most popular landmarks such as the bustling Jumeirah Lake Towers, the breezy Jumeirah Golf Estates, Expo City Dubai, and Global Village as they take off from the start line at
Over 200 riders have successfully Qualified for the 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships by finishing in the top 20% of their age/gender category.
24 year-old Russian Popov Anton (M19-34) was the fastest of all riders, beating amateurs and elite riders to finish in 2h 4m 38s and also qualified for the 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships taking home $2,700 USD (AED 10,000) prize money.
Anton who finished third in the 2021 Russian U23 Championships is not eligible to compete in the world championships due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
However, the UCI is currently considering changes to allow Russian cyclists to compete in international events.
Fastest female was Madison Black (F19-34) from Australia who finished in 2h 6m 15s and qualified for the 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
Professional rider Olivia Baleisyte outsprinted Black overall to take home $2,700 USD (AED 10,000) prize money too. Only amateurs are eligible to compete in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

The 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships will be part of the first-ever UCI Cycling World Championships that will combine 13 different UCI World Championships in Glasgow and across Scotland between 3 and 13 August.
The UCI Gran Fondo events will be held on August 4th and 7th.
