Neefjes and Kongstad fastest at UCI Gravel Challenge Blaavands Huk
New UCI Gravel World Series event the Gravel Challenge Blaavands Huk took place Danish west coast with a course designed next to and on the beach for a flat and fast gravel course. Over 700 riders from 23 countries took part
The course was a big 54km loop which had to be done two or three times, depending on the age group. Men 19-59 and women 19-49 did three laps and men over 60 and women over 50 did two laps to qualify for the 2023 UCI Gravel World Championships taking place in Italy in October.
Dane's ruled the day, with Tobias Kongstad (Pas Normal Studios) fastest in 4h 50m in a three-up sprint, ahead of Frederik Muff and Jacob Hindsgaul.
In the women's race Tessa Neefjes (Liv Racing Collective) was fastest in the women’s race, 30 minutes ahead of Klara Sofie Skovgard Hansen and Noa Jansen. Neefjes won two UCI Gravel World races last year.
Current professional rider Kasper Asgreen (Soudal Quick Step) took part on his Specialized Crux Gold, and finished in 27th place after riding hard on the first lap and easing back for the the second two laps.
