2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships Courses Revealed
The UCI have announced the courses of the 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships being held in Scotland, with the Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo in Perth on Friday August 4th and the Time Trial in Dundee on Monday August 7th
The organising committee of the 2023 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships which will be held early August as part of the first combined UCI Cycling World Championships have announced the courses of the different disciplines today.
The Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo races will start and finish in Perth on Friday August 4th, the second day of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships being hosted by Glasgow, with events taking place across Scotland.
The Gran Fondo has three 5 to 7km long climbs spread in the middle section of the course, but the first and last part are totally flat. Strong young riders should be able to do the first and last of the three climbs on the big ring, the middle one has a steep first part and flattens down towards the top.
The Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo on Friday August 4th with start/finish from the city centre of Perth, a 160km Gran Fondo with 1,663m of climbing and a 85km Medio Fondo distance with 777m of climbing.
The Medio Fondo can be considered pretty flat and fast with not as much climbing, 85km distance with 777m of climbing.
As in previous years, men aged 19-59 and women aged 19-49 will race the Gran Fondo while men over 60 and women over 50 do the Medio Fondo distance.

On Monday August 7th those riders challenging for the Time Trial title will head to Dundee where all age groups will compete over the same distance.
The time trial in Dundee on Monday August 7th is a 22.9 km back and forth loop on a dual carriage way with only two roundabouts in the first and last part and 89m of elevation, enough to break the rhythm.
