Schiff and Perry winners of the Wish One Millau Grands Causses
This weekend, June 17-18, saw the 2nd edition of the only French round of the UCI Gravel World Series, Wish One Millau Grands Causses, winners were crowned this afternoon at the finish line of the Wish One headquarters
With 500km of Wish One labelled trail in the heart of the South Aveyron, the Parc Naturel Régional des Grands Causes is without doubt a land of gravel.
The women's race was won by Caroline Schiff, who quickly escaped from the pack in the Causse Noir and made a brilliant ride. The German won after 146 km on the Terre de Gravel trails ahead of Jade Treiffesen and Rosa Kloser.
In the men's race it was another recital. Toby Perry broke away from his rivals at the 85km point and was never seen again by his 3 chasers, who finished behind him in that order: Geoffrey Soupe, Russell Finsterwald and Nathan Haas.
Nearly 600 athletes were at the start of the various races on Saturday (Open 80km/40km, Cadets, Juniors) and Sunday (UCI 145km & 101km), a record for our event. 20 nationalities came to Millau to take part in this internationally renowned event.
It was an exceptional line-up, with the best American (Freddy Ovett, Russell Finsterwald...) and European (Piotr Havik, Diederik Deelen...) Gravel specialists. As well as the best women in the international peloton (Carolin Schiff, Svenja Betz, Luise Valentin...) and French sporting legends (Julien Absalon, Alain Prost...). Who test themselves against professional road racers such as Team TotalEnergies (Geoffrey Soupe, Emilien Jeannière...) and neo-retired pelotons (Alex Cataford, Jens Debusschere...).
