Rooijakkers and Gademan fastest at UCI Gravel One Fifty in the Netherlands

Over 1300 riders from 25 different countries made the 2023 Gravel One Fifty the largest UCI gravel event to date with Pauliena Rooijakkers (Canyon/SRAM Racing) and Sam Gademan (Allinq Continental Cyclingteam) fastest

Over 1300 amateur and professional gravel cyclists participated in the UCI Gravel World Championship qualifying race in Roden, Netherlands on Saturday 15 July, with professionals Pauliena Rooijakkers (Canyon/SRAM Racing) and Sam Gademan (Allinq Continental Cyclingteam) taking overall victory and earning starting bibs for the 2023 Gravel World Championships.

The qualifiers marks the third sold-out event of the 2023 season, following the first Dutch qualifier in Valkenburg and the Scottish event in Dumfries and Galloway. In terms of gender representation, 87% of entries are men, while women account for a growing 13%+ of all participants.

The 150km course meandered through the southern regions of the start in the town of Roden. It was a predominantly flat course, featuring a mere 267m of elevation.

In the women's 150km category Pauliena Rooijakkers (Canyon/SRAM Racing) attacked and soloed to the finish line in a time of 4h 32m 33s, 6 minutes ahead of Carolin Schiff in second place (4h 38m 47s) and Moniek Tenniglo in third place (4h 39m). 3 times World Road Champion and 8 times World Cyclocross Champion Marianne Vos (4:39:00) was in fourth place.

In the mens 150km category, Sam Gademan outsprinted breakaway companions Jonas Lindberg to the win in a time of 4h 12m 4s, with Piotr Havik just behind in third place.

In the shorter 80km qualifying race for 50+ cyclists, for the men Hermann Sinnigen was fastest in a time of 2h 29m 19s, and for the women Judith van Maanen was fastest in a time of 2h 38m 49s.

Riders finishing in the top 25% of their age/gender category automatically qualify to race in the 2023 UCI Gravel World Championships taking place in Italy this October.
