Rafal Majka's Gran Fondo no longer qualifier for the 2024 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships
The Polish qualifier will no longer be part of this year’s series after the event date was changed from May to June
Originally slated for May 4-5 in Dobczyce and Myslenice, near Krakow in Poland, Rafal Majka's Gran Fondo is no longer part of this year’s qualifying events for the 2024 UCI Gran Fondo World Series Championship.
The Majka Gran Fondo’s date change is due to the fact that its key host, Rafal Majka, will be riding the Giro d’Italia in early May to support his UAE Team Emirates teammate Tadej Pogacar. Without Majka’s presence at the Polish event, the Gran Fondo must be rescheduled for a month later in the season.
Unfortunately, the new date clashes with two other European UCI Gran Fondo World Series events, meaning it cannot be a UCI qualifier this year.
This year's event now takes place on the 8-9 June 2024.
The Polish event will return to the UCI Gran Fondo World Series in 2025.
