L’Étape Ecuador kickstarts 2024 cycling series by Tour de France
American Locke and Ecuadorian Regalado fastest at sold out 3rd edition which attracted over 600 cyclists
The L’Etape by Tour de France held its race of the year in Ecuador last weekend with over 600 cyclists participating taling part in the 140km Gran Fondo, 70km Medio Fondo and 40km Recreational Fondo.
The route of L'Etape Ecuador by Tour de France offered participants an amazing challenge crossing the Santa Eelena peninsula overlooking the sea with a great start & finish village in Salinas.
The Gran Fondo finished with a three-up sprint with American Taylor Locke, beating Ecuadorians Segundo Navarrete in second and Renzo Gonzalez in thrid place in a time of 3h 31m.
Ecuadorian Daniela Regalado, was fastest in the women's category in a time of 3h 32m, beating fellow countryman Lorena Beccaglia in second and Daniela Jiménez in third place.
Henry Guana was fastest in the men's Medio Fondo in a time of 1h 49m with Paola Cardenas fatest in the women's category in a time of 1h 50m.
Francisco Reyna was fastest in the Recreational Fondo in a time of 1h 12m.
